do sand boas make good pets?

I've been wondering if anyone has a sand boa? I really would like to get a pretty kenyan sand boa, but I dont know if they bite a lot or anything?

I saw one at my local reptile store while browsing for corns and it looked so cool! I asked the guy about them a little and he gave me some pretty good feedback and if you already have other snakes they would probably be fine. I hope you get one.

I don't have one but have been around a few and they are cool. I do know someone on here said if you like watching a box of aspen, you'll like sand boas. I think it's pretty true because I have never seen one out.

thanks, I havent seen them locally so I would probably have to get one shipped from a breeder. I think they are awesome though. ^^ I may get one someday... (hopefully soon)

lol yeah well... he would be pretty cool if you had him out, but I can see that part of having one.

We currently have 2... one of them is out fairly often, but she's a bit spazzy so we don't hold her much. The other one you have to dig for if you want to hold her. lol... I call them my Grabboids, because they remind me of the monster grub worms from Tremors.

They take more work than a cornsnake or a kingsnake, but I love them - they are cute and squishie.

lol squishy? sounds fun^^ I'm definitely going to look into getting one. what kind do you have? normals?

lol... yes, squishy, if you touch them, they will flatten themselves out like they've been squished. Neat, but weird.

We have two normals, one yellow and one orange, though the yellow one is a suspected Egyptian cross. Used to have a pair of Anerys, but they passed away a while back. One had been a rescue that never fully recovered and the other a runt that never thrived.

I really want to get a paradox snow though... they are so neat looking.

aww poor guys... I really want an anery or a normal. the snows are cool but just kinda....pink...0.o how old are yours?

I own two, but have three, Kenyans.
Although I have heard of some, that bite, mine are real sweethearts who have never made a single aggressive action. A breeder friend, also, has some nice (temperament) Kenyans ... as do some others.
They do spend the majority, of the time, in seclusion (under substrate) but do venture out on occasion (one of mine is "out & about" fairly often for a Sand Boa).
When they are taken out (handled), they just mosey around ... certainly no mad dashes from these snakes.;)
I love my Kenyans and find them adorable.:)
