LOL, it's that awesome camera you have man! Nope, wasn't looking for poop at all, just the awesome snakes in your collection.

I wanted A couple of opinions before I told the story of it's background. I'm the second owner. I was sold to me as a hypo lavender , but I always thought it looked like a normal lavender. Rich Z. produced it.

I have a female Lavender that.......

also came from Serpenco via Northwest Herp (Rhonda). This snake by no means looks like a hypo lavender (see for yourself) but when bred to my lavender male (pictured) they throw better than 50% hypo lavenders. So one of them has to be a hypo lavender to get those kinds of results.

You decide.

What I am curious to know is how many of the people who replied also actually own an adult female Hypo Lav? I have two adult female Hypo Lavs (both from Rich) and they are very similar in color to yours. The females start off darker and don't continually lighten like my male does. Even though there is a remote possibility that Rich messed up on all three of our snakes, I bred one of these females to a Ghost Striped Motley last season and got 4 Hypos and 2 DIE Hypos....
Anyone got pics of Light colored adult female Hypo Lavs?

bye the way , I mentioned that Rich Z. produced in order to give more credibility to the chance that it might be hypo lavender. Not to say Rich Z. screwed up. Keep in mind also that I didn't buy it directly from Rich so even if it's not hypo , it could just be that the guy I bought him from had mislabled her.

I think she does look more like a normal lavender, except for her eyes. Her eyes make me think that she IS a hypo lavender.

Interesting thread.

Anyone produce regular lavs and hypo lavs? Is there a big difference out of the egg between the two?

Huge Difference

See for yourself

Russ

After rereading my first thread, it looks like it doesn't come across the way I meant. I wasn't being sarcastic. I am really curious to see more pics of adult female Hypo Lavs. Jason, the one I have that looks like yours and produced all Hypos is in shed. Here is the other female. She does have lots of color, but is at least as "dark" as yours.

My first thought when I first started reading this thread was "Is it a female?"

I don't have an adult female hypo lavender, but I do have a yearling and so does Chuck. Both girls hatched out and have remained quite darker than the male in the same clutch. The father (hypo lav) is also very light.

My first impression of that snake is hypo lav due to the quality of the coloration, especially the faint hue of orange I see in the picture. Something about the head coloration also makes me think hypo lav.

The female hypo lavs I've seen have been quite a bit darker than the males. The other thing I see in my hypo lavs, at least, (which have come from Rich Z stock as well) is that they maintain more of that orangey hue to them, longer, than regular lavenders. It's hard to describe, but the quality of that tone is different to my eyes.

I'll try to get some photos tonight of the yearlings comparing male vs. female.

I wish I had an adult female hypo lav right now, but I don't. :( Soon, lol. My female 2004 is already up to 75 grams.

I've got a head photo comparing adult male lav to adult male hypo lav that I'll try to dig up as well. Perhaps I can get some comparisons between the lavender male and hypo lav male tonight, also.

It would not surprise me at all if that snake IS a female hypo lavender.
