Dwarf Corn snakes

Probably a sales pitch for unsuspecting folks who would not know & think there buying something exotic maybe?

More than likely, makes me so mad though as it is an exotic shop so you assume you can trust them more than any other pet shop. Thank god they are not close enough for me to viisit or I'd go look at these "magic" corns

well, exept for my reticulated corn snake

those are long buggers, weigh the same as burm, same scale as a corn... so like 65' and thick as a 6" around :p

be a smart buyer!! simple enough!

Kind of like the 97 pound, 9ft. eastern diamondback rattlesnake e-mail that goes around every few months....I had one of our physicians show me the "story" on a website and swore it was true. I just rolled my eyes....sheeesh! People will believe anything!

That's a huge hoax! That was my point. There is no way a 9 ft rattler would weigh in at 97 lbs and still have someone holding it at the end of a snake hook. A 9 ft. rattler, if there was one, would weigh in the vacinity of around 7-9 pounds. My 7 ft. false water cobras weigh around 5 lbs. and the 6 ft. EDB at the SREL weighs 5 lbs. It's an e-mail that goes around every 6 months or so...just the location changes and the people's names. Makes it sound official by putting the capture at some local place and say that the South Carolina.....Florida...etc...wherever game warden?????? was registering the record. Uh, we have dept. of Natural Resources to handle that...not a game warden. Puleeze!

The really funny thing about that rattler email is that nearly everytime I recieve it the snake was killed in one of the Carolinas, Florida or Georgia....the snake in that email is a Western Diamondback, not an eastern

dc

It looks like an Eastern to me. Western diamondbacks don't get nearly as big as the Easterns, but it's hard to tell just how large the snake is with the perspective off completely like that.

If we are talking about the same snake (photo), then look at the tail, it has the black and white rings of the western diamondbacks. Easterns do not have that.

Using my snake measuring program I measured this snake using the two prongs of the snake tongs as my unit of measurement. My snake tong prongs are 1" wide. This snake measures almost 6 ft. 5' 8" according to my snake program. A decent sized Eastern but no 9ft snake!

Yes they do. You can see it here, although looking at the photo again on snopes it is much sharper banding than the easterns generally have. I wish I knew the angle of that snake hook as I would have a better idea of length of the snake.I know how long the snake tongs are, I have a pair like it:

I'll consent that easterns have "somewhat" of a balck and white banding at the tail, but I have never seen any eastern diamondbacks that are close to a western when it comes to tail coloration.

I agree with you on the length, I "measured" that snake the best I could via scale and assuming the guy holding it was 5'-8" to 5'-10" (he looks fairly small) then the snake would be about 6'-00" to 6'-4" as best I can tell.

I have the same pair of tongs and the two prongs at the end are 1" apart. Using that as the measurement since it was attached to the snake and therefore to scale, he measures 5'8"

To us its easier for us to spot a hoax, I just feel bad for all those wanting to get into snakes and crons etc and getting conned, its something that really bugs me. Might send them an email and ask what makes them dwarf
