Escaped corn snake

My son's young corn snake has escaped. We've left out bottle traps and have floured the floor but no sign of him for 3 days. I'm concerned because our house is v old and large with lots of gaps into the walls and floors. And it's v cold at the moment, about 10C. We've kept the heating on in his open tank and this room is warmish too, but I'm pretty sure he's not here. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear. I and others are dealing with the same problem. Tiny hatchlings can hide almost anywhere. If you don't have other pets, you can try leaving out tape traps along walls too, though they can be a little more dangerous for the snake. I made tape traps with one long piece of scotch tape (I stuck it to my arm first to make it less tacky) laid face up parallel to the wall and taped down on one end, either to the wall or to the floor on the other end. My hatchling has been missing about a month now, and no sign of her. All you can do is hope it resurfaces. :( I hear stories all the time about people randomly finding their lost corn weeks later in the most obvious places. With it being so cold outside, I'm sure it's still in the house somewhere...it may come out to find a warm place to curl up, or you might catch it out hunting!

I'm so sorry!

If you can determine how the escape happened, make sure you fix that before trusting your snake, when found, to that enclosure again.

Best wishes. I hope your little Houdini shows itself soon.
