EXPO'S: How much should I pay for the following snakes?

Kingetula

IT'S GOOD TO BE KING
Looking for great deals on snakes in 2 weeks at FIRE EXPO in Orlando. What would be the lowest price I should see for the following snakes, "great deal".

Captive Born 06

Western Hognose
Rosy Boa (costal San Diego area gray (ish)
Gray Banded King (red saddles)
Okeetee Corn
AZ Mountain King

the lowest price is what ever the seller assumes
i've seen corns as low at 10-15
hognoses as low as 35 and as high as 150
in general, expect lower prices than you would find online
but don't expect miracles...

If you're looking for the lowest possible price, you have 2 options:

a) show up at the start of show and hope you find somebody who just wants to get rid of something
b) show up at the very end and hope you find somebody who doesn't want to bring stuff home.

Also, beware of the "lowest price thing"...I tried that when I first went to the tampa expo...I bought 5 snakes, I ended up with 1. Look more for quality from reputable breeders...you're usually better off paying a little bit more.

I have a real sick, non-eatting ugly mutant amel that bits a lot for $10.......

You get what you pay for here.

I would ask around and find the best breeders and buy from them.

But the deals I would think, would be on the last day of the show, when the breeder don't want to pack them back up.

If you're getting baby snakes, you might expect to pay at least $40 for each.

Adults - I'd expect to pay $100 for each snake as an adult. Probably more for the kings.

But like others have said - go for the cheapest snakes and you will be sorry. I did that once and boy what a mistake. My advice is to find the breeders who look like they know what they're doing and have healthy animals. Get to know them a bit by talking to them. Pay whatever price they're asking if they're healthy snakes. If there is any shadow of a doubt in your mind that the snake could be unhealthy, just walk.

I can tell you what i myself as a breeder charge for animals you have on your list

Rosy boa = $75.00
Grey Band King $75.00 to $125.00 depending on local and markings (usually the ones with the wider orange saddles are at the lower end of the spectrum)
Normal "Okeetee" Corn $20.00 to $25.00
AZ Mountain King $125.00

I have a friend who breeds hoggies and he charges $60.00 for hatchlings that have fed

Hope that helps

Some breeders may ask more...some less like many others have said go with someone who is at least known in their area and will follow up with customer service...example i would much rather buy a corn from Kathy and spend 25.oo than buy one from Joe blow and spend 15.00 also most reputable breeders can tell you who the dame and sire are have pictures handy can tell you where their stock came from. (mine for example came from South Mountain and Shores Enuff stock)......try to avoid brokers if at all possible!

I've went to a few shows already and talked to the breeders about their stock, what animals really stand out, and what they are expecting to have at the next show. By the third show I knew who to look for and some even remembered talking to me at the previous show. When I came across something I really wanted, but thought the price was kind of high, one guy told me to make an offer which he accepted. I think if you know what your talking about, and show real interest, that automatically sets you apart from the herd of Lookie-Lues. You can make an offer, just don't be insulting, and you never know what kind of deal you'll get. Don't forget, Daytona is right around the corner and you can bet almost all of them will be there, so if your going too, use it as a chance to make a practice run. Talk to the vendors, take one of their business cards if they have them, (bring paper in case they don't), write down the prices, and you'll have more time to save the money you'll need for quality at Daytona...

Thanks guy's

MCHOUSE, will you be at FIRE or Daytona?
