JustineNYC said:No. If you keep that on without controlling the heat itll skyrocket to 120 degrees. You need a thermostat for your UTH.
susang said:Hi Bonks, Well It take back what I said, you seem like a good guy trying to do the best for your snake. My computer took a dump yesterday, lost everything, but I skimmed through this thread. Aspen is a much preferred bedding for any snake, the problem mentioned about ingesting the aspen would happen if you fed in tank. The snakes love aspen, tunneling and burrowing. good luck, cograts on all your good effort, susang

Sparkie (my corn's name) just shed. I believe this is his first time, and my first time watching a snake shed. I tried to remove his shedding after he got it all off but it appears he was going to bite me or attack if I did, so I backed off.
Are there any rules when a snake sheds?
You've only had him a couple days, ya? I can't recall off the top of my head this early. Anyway... He was blue, but before you bought him! They go through the blue/cloudy eyes phase for several days, then they release an oil that I believe is meant to help get the old skin off which also has the effect of clearing the eye lenses (probably also helping then see to find a good shedding spot).bonks said:Oops, I did handle him just before the shed.
He got it all off in one piece though and I didn't notice any blue eyes before the shed, maybe its harder to tell when they're young?
Anyway, his next feeding in 2 days from now so I think he'll be hungry then.![]()
