feeding more make them bigger

my snakes are babies right now, so ive read that u should feed babies every 4 or 5 days. if i feed them every 4 days will it make them bigger than if i feed them every 5 days?

just feed it every 5 days until its a year old. powerfeeding can hurt your snake in the long run and really shorten its life

this also might hurt the snake. as it gets older over the months increase it to 7 days. mine if only 6 months and is on 7 days and is big.

What sort of proof do y'all have for this? I am not saying that powerfeeding is a good idea; but scientifically, what evidence is there to support these claims?

Look, I'm not about to get into a big argument about this. There are pros and cons, and all I know for sure is that Power feeding is only good for under weight snakes and sick ones. Other then that I would not recommend it. I'm not saying don't do it period. I'd only ask next time read between the lines of others comments before getting all defensive, so please.

I don't think any one was getting defensive... that was a totally legit question. I've never seen any scientific proof on power feeding pro/cons either. I've always gone by the experiences of some of the more experienced breeders here on the forum. I personally feed hatchlings every 4 days. When they're big enough to eat fuzzies I feed them every 5 days. When they're big enough to eat hoppers I feed them every 6 days and then every 7 days when they can eat adult mice. I don't consider this to be "power feeding". It just makes more sense to me that as a snake is growing to full size it would need more nutrients. I would be glad to hear opposing opinions on it though.

I fed my Amel every 5 days when he was on pinks, moved up to every 6 days when I moved him up to Fuzzies, now he is on Rat pinks or small mice and he eats every 7 days and he is 8 months old abd 28" long when measured last month.

I will follow this samw schedule with my newer hatchling too, as it has seemed to work well.

Mine is also about 6months and I feed him every 4 days and I would jst like to some pics of yur snake to see the size dif. if u cant, jst give me the length.

I dont even consider it power feeding, if my corn enjoys eating why wouldn't I feed him every 4days in comp. to 7days where he isn't eating as much, and u have to remember that more yur snake eats, the healthier it becomes in regard to catching any RI or anything else becuz it has more nutrients that help would help fight off anything

None of this is true. Did you make it up, or are you misinformed? It's not responsible for you to state these opinions as fact when there are new keepers on this site who might take your authoratative tone seriously. You may want to lose the chatspeak too. This is a discussion board. :)

Sorry buddy, but it is fact that a bigger corn is less prone to infections than a smaller, Hhmm how does a snake grow? I wonder. I come to this site thinkin its kool and everything and enjoyin it, and theres this one guy pickin at a little thing like "chatspeak" U understand wat I'm sayin rite? of course you do so wats the problem? It's jsut easier for me cuz I'm a terrible typer

I won't bother with most of this, but how many corns have you raised? How many years have you been keeping them? What is your experience with R.I.? Do you have any references to materials that support your claim? Just wondering. :shrugs:

I have to agree, this is not true. I would think that a snake that has plenty of "nutrient" could still catch an respiratory infection or any other ailments.

I have nothing to back this observation up, but it seems that most of the corns that I've heard of getting R.I.s were adults. I can't remember ever hearing about a young corn (<1 yr.) getting one, although I'm sure it's possible. :shrugs:

Sometime, basic logic is just as good! :wavey:

I haven't found that to be true either. I've only had one R.I. problem and it was with an adult corn. That's one problem in about 250 corns. Knock on wood. There are plenty of people with more corns than I've ever had. I'd be interested to hear what they've experience on this.

I agree about the chat speak issue. It's harder to figure out and most people here won't take you seriously when you use it. If you're worried about your spelling there is a spell check button when you post a message.

Hi Jay.
How you doing.
I know your Brand new here but if you check out the forum a bit, you will find that most of the folks here don't speak in chat form. That all.
And some won't answer your question either. I notice that your friend doesn't use chat either. We're just tyring to help Bud.
Enjoy.
