heya, im just wondering if it would be okay if i fed my corn while she was blue (i think thats what its called) ? .. thanks in advance

aaron :)

It depends on the snake. Most of ours ignore prey when they're in shed mode, but a couple of them ate and shed in the same evening. Give it a shot, if you want to, the snake will teach you.

Sure, there's always a chance. We have another who we fed without realizing she was in shed mode, and she puked, then shed a couple of days later. It just means she doesn't get fed for a couple of weeks. We usually try not to feed them when they're in shed mode, don't get me wrong, but some of them will eat just fine when they're feeling a little blue (if you can get them to put down the harmonica long enough...)

I would wait. I don't feed any of my snakes while they are in the blue. That risk of regurge, is too risky for me. Regurges can be fatal. Waiting to feed a snake will not hurt it. They can go for a week or two without eating, no problem.

well its a week today since she ate, oh and how long are snakes blue for cos its been like 4 days now and she still hasn shed

I agree with Wayne, never feed while in the blue. True, some snakes can just fine, but its not worth risking your snake's life over. Just wait for the shed, they are very hearty little creatures =)

okie il wait then it was last thursday she ate so spose thats not to long ... acc i think she might of shed while i was on this haha her colours brighter anyway :S

They go blue and will clear up, right before they shed. The whole process could take a couple of days to a week or so. Not very long.

oooh so shes like jus got brighter so that mean shes about to shed ? (shes shed a few times since iv had her but iv never been around fer it ) .. and im jus outa boarding school so il be able to spend more time with her and stuff :)

After the first shed I feed corns of all different sizes while they are in blue and I have never once had a regurge because of it. As long as you are not feeding a huge meal I don't believe you have anything to worry about.

That's great! I have one question though. If, while feeding in the blue, you risk a regurge, then why do it? Especially when it doesn't hurt them to wait.

With my little ones that are 9mo-1yr of age I feed just fine without any problems when they are in shed. My 3 yr old corn however refuses to eat during shed-blue stage. At the same time though she didn't become picky like that until she/he was around 1 1/2yrs old. I have not once had any of them regurge. I think it just all depends on the snake and the temps and humidity. It is however, okay to wait for the snake to shed before you feed it.

We fed our snake about 2 nights before a shed as we'd only got him a couple of months before that and his colours barely changed in blue so we didn't notice, being new with snakes and all. He was absolutely fine though and shed perfectly; Knowing this now though I don't think we'd risk feeding whilst in blue- you hear horrible stories about regurge killing snakes and I just don't wanna risk that.
