I've met a couple fennecs in the past, but haven't had an opportunity to spend much time working with them or talking to those who have them, so I can't offer too much info. I CAN relay a quote from someone who had a pet fox (red fox I think), that observation of several people confirmed was accurate, and that I'm thinking applies to these little guys too, from what I'm reading.
His description of his pet was: "A fox is a dog that thinks it's a cat, but its really a ferret on speed."
Always found that quote amusing. Doesn't actually discourage me in thinking I would enjoy such an animal, but then again, I find super high energy and clever (even if sometimes destructive and mischievous) pets amusing - its why I have 2 rescued bengal cats, and would love a savannah cat, LOL.
