my bestest addiction!
I know, another "first bite" thread...

I just got my 3 new anery babies today, putting the 3rd/last one away and she decided she didnt like to be held!

funny thing was, it was my son's first snake and he was a little scared to get her out for the first time...probably a good thing I got her out! :grabbit:

and I thought my motley was going to bite me at first, he coiled up like he was going to but never did.

they are awesome looking, definitely well worth the wait to get them!

I will post some pics up later, I'm going to leave them alone till Sunday for feeding day, then I'll get some pics of them.

a BIG thanks to Matthew for being patient with me! :dancer:

now, just waiting for the bigger ones to get me! :bang:

Ohhhh everytime I reach in for Skittles I wonder if this is going to be the day, hahaha

Congrats on your first bite ;)

First bite only counts on Corns when they are full grown. Baby corns do not count because you may or may not feel it.

Cali Kings only count if they bite and chew on you for more than 30 seconds. The same goes for milk snakes but milks have to be full grown also.

Welcome to the group.

I took my butter hatchling out for a photo shoot and didn't realize at first he was in blue. I noticed he was being very fidigity and then realized why so I was taking him back in the house to put him away and didn't realize until I looked down that he was biting me. To funny!

For cornsnake adults to qualify, your hand needs to smell like the 15 mice you've just handled. Then the corn needs to grab and constricts to the point that you need 45 seconds of running water to get it to let go. LOL

ok, well then this counts as a baby pissed off piece of velcro.

at least now I wont be as worried to have one of my larger ones bite.
but all my corns are nice so maybe it will never happen.

either way, it was funny as hell, my son couldn't stop laughing! and he's 20 years old!

We have had Zelda for just under a year now and she has never bitten. Once she rattled her tail at us and that same time she did a faux bite where she butted my husbands hand with her closed mouth. It was our fault becuase she was in blue at the time, but we didn't realize it because she is a snow snake which makes it a little harder to tell. Part of me wants it to just happen but there is a wishful part of me that thinks well she is obviously very docile so maybe it wont ever happen.

My yearling corn has never bitten me or acted aggressive. The little one on the other hand is a little hateling. She is 6 months old now so I'm just now starting to feel her teeth when she bites. But it still doesn't hurt. She only bites when I do things she doesn't like. Such as bath her when she gets guts or poo on her or when I have to help her shed (she has a messed up tail).

My year and a half old cali king, Jack likes to chew on my boyfriend. He's never done it to me though. My boyfriend says it doesn't hurt as much as when he strikes at him. Sometimes there is blood and sometimes not. My new yearling cali king likes to bite though. It does sting and he draws blood every time. I think it will hurt much worse when he is bigger though.

So I think I'm in the bite club too unless they all need to be fully grown first. :p

Blue is when the snake is in shed and their eyes turn blue i'm pretty sure that some where on the fourms theres a common quotes or appeveations

yea common terms it's a sticky which means it'l stay there it's under miscellaneous corn snake discussions

Yep when they are in shed their color changes, its called being in blue. But with snow corn snakes it can at times be hard at times to notice the color change and so that is why were trying to mess with her during that time. Now that we have had her for a while I can tell when she is going into her shedding phase because her in tank behavior changes (she hides a lot and doesn't climb or sit on her favorite branch for a week or so), also she has pretty much been like clock work, I know to start looking for her behavior to change around the 20th of the month give or take a few days. But when she did her tail rattle/head butt, she was still pretty new so I hadn't figured out her routine yet.

the 3 new additions are seeming to like their new homes, they are cruising around their vivs...we are moving this week and will have to set up new homes for them when we get settled in ourselves.

I hope to get some pictures up to show them off soon.

How old does a carpet python have to be before it counts? I've only ever been bitten by baby corns, kings, and milks. But the yearling carpet at the pet store left a rather nicer mark.

Hey Wretched,

A yearling carpet python is close to counting but only if it chewed on you for more than 60 seconds.

I had a 8 foot Burm that lock on and tried to kill my hand and I do not count that because there use no chewing.

I do count my 4ft Cali King (Ozzy) because he locks on and chews until I run water over his head. The only reason I own a snake hook is because of him.

My 20 inch royal Zeus clamped onto me and constricted my finger for 30 seconds until I dumped water over his head!! Muscles chomped me once when I first got [caught] him but it's understandable and last night Citrus gave me a nip but it was barely a nip :p
