My patience has finally paid off. After 76 days of incubation, my first egg has pipped. Woohoo! I'm excited. Amel x snow...they'll be gorgeous. Anyway, could I get some opinions on hatchling care? Housing specifically. My friend, who's been breeding more than ten years, has always kept them on Aspen. Last year I had a clutch of 7. I kept them in a 10 gallon on aspen with a uth. I would appreciate everyones opinions. I'm always trying to improve. Thanks.
 
I plan on using a medium tub to house them until first shed, then they get sperated to their own shoebox sized tubs. Since I have issues with keeping temps 85 or less I won't use heat, don't want to burn the buggars, but they will be on heat when it begins to cool off and at night since room temps drop to about 75 at night here lately. I also plan on having them on paper towels until they are on peach fuzzies. That way I know everything is working right physically.
 
Personally I separate them before the first shed, because I'd hate to lose any through cannibalism. Little microwave-food tubs are ideal, with paper towel and a plastic cup cut down with a lower lip cut in so they can't tip it over

I dont even wait for them to emerge from the egg. Once i see a slit i put the egg in its own tub. I dont want them to have to deal with any kind of stresses once out of the egg.

I offer up paper towels for my own poop viewing pleasure and a water dish in 6qt tubs.

i have been told that the wriggling of siblings will stimulate others to slit and pip. Further it's a great idea!

Thats probably true, but after after pip 1, i wait 24 hours and pip any that havent done it themselves. I dont like leaving things to chance.
