First hook-ups for me!!

Grr!
No eggs yet?
What is she waiting for?

I know...I know...I know...jeesh! Tonight she's wrapped herself around a butter bowl..much like i've seen female ball pythons do to get comfy. Her belly is huge..but not absurdly so...it's uniformly huge. I think she's waiting for easter..ya know..easter eggs....personally, i don't care if she makes me wait...I just want them out and her healthy. Did i mention...igave her fresh water....counted 14 lumps.....hopefully they aren't all "slugs"

day 14.....Nothing...She's REAL Busy....Not able to choose a lay box it seems. She has several options...but apparently none of them seem to fit the bill. she seems to be favoring the Square one over the 2 other round ones. Gonna call the vet on monday...if nothing happens by then...with all these threads on egg-binding...yeah..i'm freaking out....Nanci!!! where are ya!! LOL...Ok, kathy loves book says anywhere from 31-45 days after breeding. From the last breeding on 3/16/11 we're at 36 days...if my math is correct. She goes on to say that her clutches avg 39 days. i can tell theres an egg close to the vent...but it's not protuding...or in anyway visible. maybe tomorrow...just maybe....

Look at her with love and affection and then say with her 'hee, hee, whooo' repeat this mantra while counting to ten then deep breath in and repeat mantra counting to ten until contraction stops. You have to let her think you are on her side and you didn't mean for this to happen to her, lol.

unfortunately over the past month or so...i have seen pics of LOTS of egg-bound females....Fortunately...my girl does not appear,by visual inspection, to be egg-bound....just slow! :) her weight is holding fairly well, she's VERY active and Alert...Very Alert...if i walk into the room...her head snaps 'round to see whats coming. the other night..i was sitting in the room..lights out...quietly watching thru the tub...She noticed i was there...Slithered over to that side of her tub...and just layed there..almost as if to say..."Do these eggs make me look fat?" I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth. :)

Pix please :D

Are you suggesting i take a PICTURE of a Prego Woman(snake)?? LOL she'll have a complex for sure if i show off her fat belly! ;) I'll take a few in the morning if nothing comes tonight.
I'm taking the day off tomorrow....plan on camping out in the snake room tonight. Now...wheres my 'lil pen light.

Well, that's your problem right there....you're expecting puppies out of a snake

Well maybe that's the problem your waiting for puppies, cheesh dude she's going to lay eggs ;).
I don't get the not wanting pic of pregnant belly, my grand-daughter is refusing to have picture taken of her belly and it is so cute.

Personally I find pregnant women attractive....let me clearify...they seem to be happier...have a "glow" about them....and then it all turns to pure evil around the 9th month or so...LOL

well,
No promises....but she seems to have settled on the one lay box that i can't see into....she has moved the moss around and has actually "Plugged" the access hole. so, if she's laying..i'm gonna miss it....no matter..lets just hope she's taking care of business in there..interestingly enough..it's also the smallest lay box....She has to be cramped in there with all that moss....So, as a rookie I reserve the right to ask....in the morning..if she's not visible i.e. still in the small lay box..do i lift the lid and peek?? or leave her to it?

Ok I could not have laughed any harder with the puppy talk. But sounds like a good sign. They always seems to move all of the moss out of the way.

yeah,

she went in around 10:00pm it's 1:43am now...she hasn't come out...probably sleeping! LOL like i should be...hopefully,if she's laying, the eggs will hold till morning. I'll set my alarm for 5:00am ....4 hrs should be enough. Yes..i've become obsessed with this. funny how things like this can change a person. and how the potential of new lives beginning can change a current relationship so profoundly in the wrong way.

it's now 8:44am she's in her lay box..she looks different..theres an egg right at her vent now..so overnight the eggs have moved down ..thats a good sign i presume. when i checked on her it look like the vent area was "Moist"?? like some clear liquid was strecthed between her vent and the moss substrate...i think shes moments away...just hope the first isn't too big....but it did move down 3/8 or more of an inch since last night.(remember..i'm a machinist...I know all about measurement" I guess if the first one is too big..it's a good thing that it's accessable from the vent as opposed to having to puncture her......will update in the next few hours.

Rich- try to not look at her or even send her messages by ESP until at least 12:30 PM. You can do it!! Eggs are FINE overnight, or while you are at work, or whatever. When she _does_ start laying, don't be taking the eggs out one at a time; leave them until you're pretty sure she is done. That is going to take the better part of a day, or all night. Then, get your camera. Take the nest box out. Take what photos you can by removing moss and gently positioning her. She is going to want to guard the eggs by tightening her body around them- strongly! So you don't want to set her off too much. When you are ready, gently lift her from the eggs. That is easier than getting the eggs away from her. She will resist- just lift her carefully, disturbing the eggs as little as possible. Then you can photograph her _and_ the eggs separately, and then move the eggs into the egg box. Do you have the egg box ready in the incubator, so it is up to incubation temp?

Nanci,

Yes,
we're at 82/83 degrees..solid in the incubator. ok..I'll take your advice..you've obviously done this more than i have! :) as far removing her from the eggs...Slow and easy is what i planned....I know appox. how many to be expecting...so a quick count should let me know if she is finished. But yes, Incubator is ready, temps are good and holding Humidity is near 100% (using hatchrite...will also cover the eggs with a layer of orchid moss once in incubator.) It's show time Kids!!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiich...

Do me and your Momma snake a favor and take a deeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath through your nose, then gently exhale. Do it 5 times. I can feel your energy from here. I can only imagine that she might be able to as well. Seriously...breathe and send out calm, relaxing vibes...

Lol....

yeah...i'm fine..going to Girlfriends Mom& dads for easter dinner...that should allow her some alone time and me a few minutes to think of something else. Should be home late...so maybe i'll have a nice suprise when we get home.
