I guess it would've made sense to do one of these first, huh?
Well, I'm still relatively new, so here goes: My name is Laura, and I received my first corn as a gift for my twenty-fourth birthday from my best friend. I've had him for two months now. He's a lavender named Kaven (Gaelic for 'handsome'), and currently weighs in at 8 grams, eating small pinkies.
He's not only my first snake, he's my first reptile; my parents aren't fans, so I could not have one as a kid, much as I wanted one. I'm really enjoying learning about him, and this forum has been incredibly helpful for those tips and tricks you don't find in the books.
So far he's shed once, and is doing very well. He's incredibly mild-mannered, tolerates handling well, and has yet to strike at me (though I harbor no illusions that will continue indefinitely, lol). I couldn't be more thrilled with him, and as soon as I get a camera I will upload some pictures.
Just wanted to say hello, officially.
