Much better than my laziness of "flash" vs "no flash". Experimenting with lighting is how you perfect it! Sometimes I'd like to see a touch more light in your photos to bring out a few more details, but I love the general darkness and almost mute calmness of them. They're awesome and definitely a style all of your own! You're creating a trademark. ;)

Thanks! I'm working on the "more light" thing. It's a lot of trial and error until I get it right!

Thanks for the comments everyone!!!

Just remember that you can still make a lot of adjustments using software and not just hardware.

I kind of agree with Jessica....the darkness does add a degree of calmness to the snake so a subtle manipulation of the picture would produce really nice results.

Thanks! I just wish I knew what I was doing with the photo editing software. I can crop and sharpen, but not a whole lot more!

Just putzing Eddie, don't know why (your photos and dof are near perfect), but adjusted the white balance a tad, a little more light and blurred the rocks more to make the snake pop a touch more.... Thanks for the info about Don; talked to him earlier this evening. Great snake you got.

Two after shots; then the originals...

Thanks! I really need to learn how to do that. I'm working on perfecting the lighting as well, so I won't need to as much, but it would still be good to know!

Wow, I really like the stones idea Eddie, and of course you have an awesome camera and awesome subject.. I can't wait til I have a sweet camera. Lol
