Grey spot on head?

Savvy19

Savvy
My little guy has a grey looking spot on the top of his head, and I havent seen it before until now. It scared me, I thought it would be mites of some sort, but it hasnt moved, so I know it's part of him. It almost looks like the color has been lost in that area, like a scale came off, or something. I'll try and get a picture of it ASAP, but I figured I'd post about it before I got busy again.

My amel has something like that to in the head pattern and other areas. Seems to have no color or looks something like clear plastic. :shrugs: Weird. It wasn't always like this but no scales are missing so I'm just going to keep an I on it for now.

Here are a few pictures. Sorry they look crappy... I had to use one of my not-so-good cameras, haha.

My amel has almost the exact same thing. I'd get a picture but she's such a squiggly thing I haven't managed to get a head-shot yet! Looks like part of a scale just has no colour. Mine is ready to shed any day now, so if the grey thing goes away I'll let you know. Probably just a colour abberration though, not to worry :)

My little guy had that problem a couple weeks ago. The entire scale on his head was missing. The scale came off with his shed, causing the gray area.

Here is a pic of his shed with the scale.

And here is what his head looked like without the scale.

So it looks like your snake may have just lost a bit of scale. My boy's scale grew back eventually. So I wouldnt worry too much about it :)

One of my amels has that, too. It's like an area with no color. Personally, I think his is that way from rubbing his head against the underside of the top of his viv as he crawls around on the rim of his tank. It doesn't seem to bother him, so I don't worry about it.

Hi,

Our snake, Esteban, had the same thing. I wasn't sure what it was either, but it didn't look like he was hurt or it was causing him any discomfort so I just kept an eye it. Sure enough, it was gone after a couple of sheds.

Hope that helps :)

My amel has shed (no pics yet as she just ate) and the grey thing is still there. The shed skin was clear. I don't think it's anything to worry about, maybe one day it'll be gone, maybe it won't :shrugs: Sounds like many amels have it.

To me it looks normal, just discoloured. Mine developed it, i got amel. Don't fret over it. Doesn't look like a missing scale either.
