I want another Corn snake
Omg, he escaped! I currently reside in a dorm where i'm not even allowed a snake but i cant leave him home. It's a quad which is a room, lounge, then room. I searched my friend's room and my lounge and he's not there. I'm still finishing the search in my room.

I'm goin to put a pinky on the floor. Hopefully i'm there when he eats it. I put paper underneath the doors so that it wont wander out if it already didnt :(.

any advice on how i should place the pinky so that if it eats it, it stays where it is?

:( i hope i find him...i was supposed to buy a new cover for the tank on the weekend...i guess my old cover and books didnt help.
 
i set up 2 pinkies..one in the private lounge and one in my room. I think i'll set one up in the floor lounge too..

gotta go to class.i hope i find him :cry:

Oh man, that's horrible. I hope you find him. I know that if a pinkie sits too long it will stink really bad and may attract bugs and insects you don't want in your dorm, it is a f/t pinkie right? If we have a snake that doesn't eat in the evening by morning the stinch is pretty bad from what my boyfriend says, cause I certainly don't stick my head in the container to smell it. I don't have any ideas on how to find him but I wish you the best of luck and please let us all know what happens. :cry:

Yea, i'm lettin the pinky defrost. i set one up in the floor lounge... Hopefully that strong smell will attract him..after my class ends, i'll end and hopefully its near one of the pinkies..
 
There are many threads on here about the best "traps" to catch a snake.

And I hope you've learned a valuable lesson in thumbing your nose at the rules. :cool: If you get it back, are you going to continue to keep it in your dorm where it's not allowed? Do you have any family or friends to care for it while you're at school?

Like Dionythicus said, try searching for threads about lost snakes, because they sometimes have good ideas on how to catch them etc.

Remember to check EVERYWHERE possible. They are great at hiding. Don't give up, i really hope you manage to get him.
 
thanks. the pinky that was in the floor lounge is gone. either the cleaning lady or snake found it. I set another one up under the big couch in that lounge and i'll check again.

My floor RA heard that I was bringing a snake and basically he told my friend that as long as that thing is no where near him he'll be fine..

Hmmm. I wonder how he'd feel if he knew that it was loose right now? And one more thing. I hate to sound harsh, but you're unlikely to find the snake in your monitor. ;)

i'm still looking for it now. I've searched EVERYWHERE in my room and i'm continuously looking. I'm checkin back once in a while to see if anyone has anymore helpful tips.

Basically i just have pinkies lying everywhere near darker spots and i'm searching and checking the pinkies all the time.
 
I lost my snake "sierra" a while back and looked and looked and found her the same day, she was under the fridge, they like to stay in warm places..dont stop looking and if you look once place check the same place again later...good luck, you`ll find him, just dont give up

yeap, im checkin all the warm places too. over and over.

i was supposed to go back home this weekend since i'm missing a lot more things i need up at my dorm room but i'm staying so hopefully i could find my "Caesar" :(
 
I read something in one of the threads about putting flower on the floor, cause the you will see the snake tracks, and you will know if he is taking it or just some hungry cleaning lady.
 
thanks. i was actually thinkin about somethin like that except I dont have any powder at my dorm. This is the last day before the weekend that the cleaning lady cleans. i put it right under the couch this time so that no1 will see it.

I searched my whole room over and over and over and I'm sure it's not in here. I can't believe it might've crawled out my door and out the lounge door! I really hope i could find it. I know its on this 3rd floor somewhere but idk where! he might've crawled next door into my OTHER RA's room! :sidestep:
I realllly hope i could somehow find him :( i keep looking and looking. hopefully he smells the pinky and crawls back into my room or atleast to the floor lounge.
 
Any pinks you leave around that aren't part of a trap, will only delay your recovery if he eats them. What does a missing pinky prove? If he does eat it, he'll hole up somewhere to digest. If you keep providing them, and he finds them, at least he'll be eating, but you're unlikely to find him. Find out about traps. Good luck.
 
I was going to say this, it seemed a bit odd to just feed it, its not like it sits right where the pinkie was digesting, it moves, usually to a hiding place to digest,
I didn't post because not having lost a snake I wasn't sure if I was wrong in thinking that :p
 
Do you have a single? If your room was anything like my old dorm (cool building but built in the 30's) I wish you the luck of god. Basically being in a dorm is like being in a house x 10.

Research the traps.

What were you using to keep your lid down?
 
i have a double..i'm pretty sure it's not in the double because I have searched every possible place for hours. I had a normal lid that fit really well and had a book over it. I'm still not sure how it would've gotten out.

I placed pinkies near really good hideouts. If it was in my small room and ate the pinky, i would just search my whole room over again and find it. I put paper under the door to block it from coming out. I basically placed the pinkies in spots so that i would have an idea of where it might be.
The pinky is in the main floor lounge which is lit pretty well, BUT surrounded by many dark/warm places that I could check for if the snake is around there.

I'll research traps now.

Lift & squeeze. That's what they are good at :D I have a normal lid on most of mine, but I use C clamps on the lids that aren't sliding.
