:( He Escaped! Looking for him...

YOu may have checked the places that a human would think a snakes would hide, but I am rereading the corn snake manual, and the Loves wrote that you should check behind hanging wall pictures, around window frames. I would have thought of that... It said that younger corns usually explore upward first, so check in bookshelves and all high dark places. Then if they cant get anywhere upwards they will explore the perimeter on the ground until they find a doorway or heating vent. So if you corn has been gone in the last day or 2 it might still be in the room.

OMG I FOUND HIM :crazy02:
He was crawling underneath my door and to second pinky i set up in the quad lounge! I got a pic of it. I can't believe i found him at like 4:30AM! I didnt think he was still in my room and almost lost hope.
After I put him back in the viv, he drank some water :)
Now he's active but it looks like hes looking really hard to try to escape. He's burrowing, then climbing and trying to escape from the lid, etc. He's searching everywhere! He's been doing that for 30+mins. and he wont stay still :(

He just went around the underside of the lid about 2 times and counting..lid, then trying to escape from the bottom..back and forth..why does he want to escape? :( Maybe he wants that pinky?

OMG!!!! I THOUGHT IT GOT OUT AGAIN AND I MOVED ALL THE FURNITURE OUT OF MY ROOM. My lid is inescapable..

I couldnt find it! No where in the tank...Searched and searched. I felt stupid losing it again.

Turns out the pillars decoration i bought for him has holes in the bottom!! AND THE SNAKE HAS BEEN HIDING THERE! I NEVER lost him! HE was just hiding in the tank and i just left the tank open in hopes that it would crawl back in or something..

Smart snake. He fooled me twice...I just got Punk'd! :twohammer

When corns are settled in they will always try to escape. They are natural escape artists, this is just what they do, When he's out exploring he'll be looking for a way out, and if there is one, he'll find it. he may settle down and not do it as much, but when he is out, thats usually what he'll be doing.

Great news! Now you have to get a tight-fitting lid and nice, wide clips to hold it down. Don't rely on weights (e.g. books, etc.) to do the job. There can be NO gaps. I'm happy for you, but happier for Caesar!

You may also want to limit your viv decor to items that he can't crawl into, from which you may not be able to extricate him. Don't let your desire for a "cool-looking" viv trump what is sensible for you and the snake. :)

Thats lucky! I was looking at some of those pillars and stuff and the store yesterday and I saw they were hollow, but I never put 2 and 2 together. Just remember if he CAN find a way out, he will remember it the next time and get out faster.

Thanks guys. I can't believe he was inside the pillar the WHOLE time. He tricked me into letting him escape lol.
The only decor i have is the water bowl, the columns, the hide, and a fake plant. It's STILL sitting in that column and when it goes out i'm goin to fill the hole with napkins or something.

Heres an idea, what about filling it up 3/4 of the way with napkins or something, then adding some weight to the bottom 1/4 to keep it from falling over. When I looked at them I saw how light they were, looks really easy to push over.

I had this happen to me. Candy climbed up into a hide that had a hallow arm and didn't come out for over a week. I'd advise you to remove the pillar until he's to big to fit in the hole. That's what I've done anyway  .

Lol. did you think it escaped?
Caesar has been hiding in it for a day+ already and I somehow got him to get out of it. I filled it a paper towel and mounted it firmly so that it wouldn't fall.

Yes, I did! I franticly tore my room apart looking for her. I looked in the viv again and saw her sticking her head out of the hide. I felt like a fool but at least she wasn't gone. And then she went and decided to drive her mom crazy by not comming out! All's well that ends well I guess :grin01: .

YOu should've been all like, "ACCIO CANDY!" and then have her zoom through the air too you! No? Well, it would have been cool anyway...

Strange that you found him so quickly in a dorm... My amel escaped into my dorm around the 14th of January, and was only found today in the basement by the security guard. I'd even had snake traps and flour on the floor (which was a heck of an annoyance to have to clean up at 6 am before other people got up for class) in the room just next to the one he was found in on virtually a daily basis. I guess my snake just wanted to stay in the warm and quiet! (The room he was found in is the warmest in the dorm, and the door's kept locked. I'd been let in to search several times before, but he must've been hiding very well, because I never saw him.)

I thought it was good too, but the movies do the series no compliment. The books are way better!

Yep! Best movie yet! But the movies aren't nearly as good as the books imo. Can't wait for OotP though! :D

How's the prodigal snake doing?
