Heat help

Alright, after extensive testing, the tile did not work. Temps were still recorded up to 100*. Then I figured out one piece of cardboard takes it down to about 87-89*, but TWO pieces brought it right to 83-84, which is exactly where I want it. I think with two pieces, the slight gap between them is enough air to act as a buffer between the substrate and the pad. Anywho, now I have to figure out how to make the cardboard semi-permanent, like I don't want to have to change out cardboard every time I clean, if it gets pooed on or something. Do you guys/girls think plastic wrap might make it kinda water resistant? Or do you think the heat mat would melt the plastic wrap? Plastic wrap is just the first thing that comes to mind. Thanks for the help, as always!
