heating and temperature range

Mangrove

Corns_will_rule_the_world
i was just wondering if it mattered if you put all of the heat on one end of the tank or if you should distribute it, i have my heat lamp on the side with her hide space and a heat pad about 6' by 3' on the side with the water, i waas wondering if i should put all of the heat on one side seeing now it is getting colder, i have never had a problem before but i would just like to have some reasurence :shrugs: :shrugs:

Keep all heat in one end. This allows for at least a 5-10 degree temp gradient within the enclosure. Make sure that you check the warm end frequently to verify that the combination of the lamp and pad isn't too much.

very nice has an amazing red that led me to believe it was a bloodred, very impressive though

It gets really cold at night here so I keep a low wattage red bulb over the cool side 24/7 just to ensure the temps don't drop below 70 (but they don't seem to go much higher than that even during the day), and I use a pink light over the UTH during the day (but hang it so it doesn't get too hot).

Seems to work great.

What is it with you girls and pink accessories with the snakes??? :shrugs:

Us girls just gotta love pink! Thus my obsession with gardenmum's very pink coral snow girl. A pink snake, AND pink lights? What girl could ask for more?

LOL! It's actually a regular light bulb, but instead of white it's "soft pink". I like it better because it gives off a nice soft glow rather than this BRIGHT white light. I need a daylight in here (dark) so instead of white, I use pink.

My only obsession with the pink snakes is so I can name it Willy.

:)

so then you need to ask your self if the obsession with pink snakes or jsut ones named WIllI?? now that is the questioon :shrugs: :grin01: :grin01:

One of my tanks only has a UTH underneath it and the warm side is around 83 and the cool side is around 75-77. These temps are the readings over top of the substrate. Are these temps too cold?

dont worry about it howiet4702 those temperatures are purfect considering this time of the year, that is the temp the book says to keep it :twoguns:

this is right outa bill adn kathy loves corn snake manual

Corns thrive at temperatures in the same areas that humans find comfortable. this means approximately a range of 70-88 F (21-31C) but unlike humans with self-regulating body temperatures, snakes can't sustain all bodily functions if kept at anyone temperature constantly. there are times when they must experience higher or lower temperatures to facilitate natureal functions such as digestion, embryo development, paracite or infection control, as well as spermatogenesis. :twoguns:
