Hello everyone =)

Awwww crap, I just found out that it's very risky to put more than one cornsnake in the same terrarium

I though that a male and a female together would have no problem living along, but if there's even 5% odd that I wake up someday with only 1 snake in the cage, i'm not going to try it.

So until I have enough money to buy another <cage + heating + lighting + thermostat> i'll have to stay with one snake, wich will be the bloodred one.

I'm not AT ALL quitting the idea of breeding cornsnakes and doing wonderfull phases, but I'll have to wait a bit more than I though for that.

I'll keep you in touch !

thanks a zillion for the answers.

Edit :

:crazy02: :crazy02: You have just made so many people here very happy :).
See someone does read and follow directions. All that repeating "only one per viv" works!

Hope you get your new set up(s) soon. And show pics.

I would have really loved to have a blizzard and a bloodred cornsnake in the same terrarium, but I strongly believe that respecting the animal needs is the first step in being a good cornsnake breeder. So it will take the time it has to take, but I'll wait.

it's not the end of the world anyway, Iwouldn't have been able to breed them until they would have been adult (I hope that's english enough :p), and that's more then a year from now, so maybe then i'll have enough money to buy a second installation and be able to find an adult cornsnake!

Oh well, we'll see :wavey:

Housing two snakes together is indeed risky. While there is the possibility of cannibalization, when they get older there's also the risk of the female breeding at too small a size. Not to mention the issues of stress and perhaps disease.

That having been said, I do know people that house more than one corn in a tank successfully and without problems. But doing so does invite Murphy to rear his ugly head.
