HELP!!! Oviduct

While my female was laying her 4th egg I noticed something coming out with it... after looking it up it seems it's her oviduct... she still has possibly 4-5 if not more eggs in her... I seen a forum on here from a while ago to clean it and put sugar on it??? ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!

She needs to go to a vet emergently. I wouldn't take her to an emergency clinic, I don't think, unless you know yours does snakes, but I'd get her to your reptile vet as soon as they open in the morning.

She is going today at 5 that's all they had available... she laid 2 more eggs last night and is looking very tired... she still has eggs maybe 4 still and they seem like they're all right there ready to come out... this is so stressful for me and I couldn't imagine how it is for her... first time dealing with a gravid snake and all being by accident has turned into a nightmare!! I will update you after her visit to the vet, and thank you very much!!!

Are you able to manipulate the oviduct tissue out of the way at all? I would keep her on very damp paper towels, in her lay box. You can put the other eggs into the incubator.

The tissue is bigger today than it was last night, I'm assuming from pushing the other 2 eggs out... I have her in a smaller tank with damp paper towel... she is under the heat lamp yes she is definately egg bound and I feel horrible I have no clue what to do... I called an emergency vet last night that is familiar with reptiles but don't treat them... they told me everything I had done was really all I could do but I still feel like I need to do something more

Well, all you can do is try to manipulate the tissue out of the way- which is difficult. You could try soaking her in sugar water, (I'd just put her on paper towels, and then enough water to cover the tissue) which will draw some of the swelling away. You use one tablespoon of sugar for 3 ounces of water.

I'm trying to upload some pics of my poor girl... So I don't know if this worked

Update on Buzz... took her in and they gave me 3 option... the one I chose to do was this, general antistesia(sp?) they put her oviduct(which was turned inside out) had to milk out remaining eggs(there was 6) and then gave her 2 stitches by her vent... My poor girl has been through so much but she seems to be starting to come out of the antistesia because she's starting to move around... I will not be breeding her after this, it was never my intention... They said she could go through this again if she was to develop eggs again, not worth it.... on a good note she ended up laying 14 eggs in total, the 6 they milked from her today all looked good and have them in the incubator, I found 2 in the tank(one was all dried out it was under the substrate and the other was on top but a iffy) the 2 she laid last night/early morning and the 2 she laid yesterday and of course the first 2 that she laid March 27&28... If she makes a full recovery this experience is one that I will never forget, I have learned a lot and all you snake lovers on here have been wonderful and helpful... thank you so much... Poor girl! Glad everything went ok at the vet and nothing too major had to be done! I hope she recovers fully for you, but its a smart idea on your part not to breed her again.

Aw- poor baby!! What were the other two options? You're lucky to find a good reptile vet on short notice. I'd be interested to hear what they said about follow-up care, resuming feeding, etc.

Thank you everyone... she seems to be better she's been moving around slowly but it will take some time...

Kathy, the first option was xray to see how many eggs were in her still then they would intact the oviduct and put it back in her and let her lay the remaining eggs on her own, with the likeliness of her prolapsing again while laying the remaining eggs $270.00... and of course then would have to go through this all over again if she prolapsed again

option 2 was the one I thought would be best for her and what I could somewhat afford $392.00

option 3 was to do surgery, long incision on her belly remove the eggs and neuter her $787.00

all of the options after care as far as medicine was the same... they sent me home with pain medicine and an antibiotics, keep her on clean paper towel, I can feed her when I feel she is ready, being active and coming back around... I will try this evening to feed her a small hopper before I give her the pain medicine... I'm not to happy about having to give her the injections I'm scared to do it but I will do what I have to do to take care of her

oh yeah forgot to mention I take her back to the vet on 4/10 to have the stitches removed there's 2 one on each side of her vent

You're the BEST OWNER IN THE UNIVERSE for taking such good care of her. I know many people who would have just euthanized her. Bless you for not taking the cheap way out.
