HELP! She's gone!!!

I had given up hope on finding my escaped snake. Then,I was down in the basement doing laundry,,and my daughter came down to see what I was doing.BINGO,,her 8 year old eyes spotted something crawling along the wall.
She was missing for 28 days.Very cold and a bit thinner,,but no worse for the wear.Don't give up hope,,just always keep an eye out !!

.... i lost a few myself. found all them this way.... i put some crumbled up news paper and plastic bags from the grocery store around the room and turned off all the lights and listened. when they came out and slid across one of this things i ran over to the noise and opened the lights..... this has worked for me everytime

The methods all seem good, but I'm worried that I don't know which room she's gotten to. Obviously the room where her tank is seemed a good place to start, but I had a suspiciously snake-like track in some talc powder I laid across the doorway of the room, suggesting she left the room. There are five rooms on the upper floor-- and plenty more downstairs. If you were a snake, would you head downstairs? :-s This is the sort of stuff I've been pondering.

I've had to throw all the mice out-- they were turning black and had trapped nothing. I'm planning on getting some tape ASAP. Reccomendations on where to put it? Doorways or line the walls?

(By the way, all this help and support is really gratefully recieved, which I'm somewhat concerned may not have been conveyed in my earlier, distraught replies :))

Just want Perdita to reappear, and I think I'll be renaming her too. 'Perdita' comes from the latin, meaning 'lost'. Which was just tempting fate reall, wasn't it?

I'd put the tape along the walls. Good luck. Don't forget to keep checking the same places over and over.

are you even sure its escaped because i once thought that mine had escaped but it was burried under most of the substrate.
I hope you find it soon. :grin01: :santa:

She said she uses paper as a substrate. Kind of hard to hide from someone under a sheet of paper! :) What could that lump be!?

Both...along the walls, across doorways, and in every room you have access to. The more tap-traps you lay out, the better your chances. Don Soderberg also says in his "Cornsnakes In Captivity" book, that he has had some measure of luck by simply pulling long strips of tape off the roll and letting them fall hap-hazardly around, though I would recommend this only as a supplement to along the walls and across doorjams.

Good luck, and please keep us posted. We want to know when you find her...

Thanks very much. Gonna be tape-a-rific around here tomorrow morning. And I'm gonna get more mice and design some rather sophisticated (but not really) traps involving lots of cardboard and warm places in my house.

I hope you find your baby !! Keep us posted. Do you have a computer or anything that generates heat nearby? A friend of mine found hers curled up in a little space behind her computer.

erm.. i suppose all these things have been said but:

look in warm dark places all over the house.

Tape mice to double sided tape and stick it to the floor im warm, dark places and around her cage.

so what have you done.... how long has she been gone? this is sad coz i have found out that my snake sammie has disappeared over night too.... i hope hes not too far i done all the flour in doorways and used a warm mouse to bait him, but i dunno if it will work... im sat here with a laptop atm and watching the dead mouse all day... i refuse to go to work until i find him,
poor thing will be freezing

Edenlore, I think chances of finding your corn is good despite gone for many days. My ball python escaped once, found him hiding under a shelve.

Hope you find your anery corn.

lost snake

a friend of mine lost his snake about a month before christmas. He gave up hope and bought a new one from the shop. He continued to look after his new snake and then about another 6 weeks later he came home from work and his origional snake was just moochin around in his hall on the floor. So now hes got two snake and his origonal snake was and still is in good health. He said he was sure that his snake ate a slug when he was on his travels because he caould see some black stuff in his stomach.
Dont worry bout your snake not eatin, im no expert AT ALL but im sure your snake will find food when hes hungry, its just a matter of when he decides to make an appearance.

if you ever find her, which i am praying that you will, PLEASE tell us on this thread, im really praying for her! I hate to see snakes get lost, but dont worry, ive heard of people loosing snakes for months before them turning up (alive)

That snake WILL turn up.My kids rooms AND pretty much ALL the rest of my house,,have a million places for a small snake to hide,,but that little sucker showed her self before it was too late.
