Hey everyone, well the title speaks for its self. I hope their isnt another thread like this. Whats your favourite movie of all time? I like the Star Wars movies and the Rockey movies alot.

I really enjoyed "12 Monkeys" and "Fight Club". There are a few others that are high on the list, like "Se7en", "The Sixth Sense", "Lucky Number Slevin"...but "12 Monkeys" and "Fight Club" are my top 2...

This is a tough one. "12 Monkeys" and "Fight Club" were mentioned. They are up there for me. "Aliens" is another good one. I'm just gonna list some of my favorites...
Snatch, 28 Days Later, Evil Dead 2, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (both), Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street (all), The Usual Suspects, Haggard, The Godfather (1 and 2), Immortal Beloved, Jackass (both), Lucky Number Slevin, The Excorcist, Iron Monkey, Crouching Tiger, Once Upon a Time in China (all), Goodfellas... I could go on forever.

Can't say that I have one favorite, but all of these (and some others I'm sure that I've forgotten) never get old to me.

Tough question!

Old standbys are Magnolia, Apocalypse Now Redux, When Harry Met Sally and 25th Hour and Sexy Beast.

Newer are Crash, Sideways and possibly Napoleon Dynamite.

I also really enjoy House of 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects.

And Clerks and Amores Perros and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back.

And Kill Bill One and Two and Jackass One and Two and Pulp Fiction.

I didn't buy a DVD player until The Godfather 5 disc boxed set was released. I saw no reason to until then.

After that, I'd say Monty Python and the Holy Grail, then what's been referred to as the Woody Allen "Manhattan Trilogy" (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah And Her Sisters), Citizen Kane, Se7en, The Usual Suspects, American Beauty (my Kevin Spacey Trilogy :) ), anything by Mel Brooks, anything by the "Christopher Guest ensemble cast" (Best In Show, Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind, etc.), anything by the Marx Brothers (a New Year's tradition of mine is to watch the Marx Brothers after whatever celebrating I do (read: none), and the "epic"-type films....Lawrence of Arabia (something that MUST be seen on "the big screen", Gandhi, and so on.

There are too many to mention. But for me, it ALL starts with The Godfather.

jazz

Hard for me to pick just one...a lot of good ones already mentioned.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, LOTR trilogy, Matrix trilogy, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Dazed and Confused, Constantine, Underworld, Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Saint, Spaceballs, History of the World Part 1, Van Helsing, Deep Blue Sea, Dude Where's My Car, The Chronicles of Narnia, Gone With the Wind, My Fair Lady, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, the Lion King....
Our DVD collection here is huge to say the least!!

I've already seen a couple that I had forgotten in the posts following mine... I'm not even gonna try it anymore. I LOVE MOVIES!!!

I'm very big into bad horror and sci-fi. The Head That Wouldn't Die, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Dead and Breakfast (that one I would recommend watching only with alcohol). Also topping my lists would be the Phantom of the Opera.

It saddens me every day that this is no longer in production. I was a student at the University of Wisconsin when Jim Mallon (one of the producers and voices of MST3K) was president of the student government there. He pulled off two of the greatest pranks of all college pranks.

All-time favorite and has been for 15 years...Casablanca. Couldn't tell you how many times I've watched it. Perfect cast, perfect script, perfect cinematography, perfect lighting, perfect set....when Sam begins playing "As Time Goes By" by Ilsa's request, the camera hovers on her and captures one of the most beautiful 5 seconds in film, in my opinion. So beautiful and so sad in that microsecond and you are right there in the room...you want to be at Rick's Cafe American...*whine*

The rest of my list: Citizen Kane, Godfather 1 and 2 (Godfather 3 can rot in hell), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Highlander, All About Eve, Big Sleep, Ocean's Eleven (Clooney/Pitt remake), Robin Hood (Disney), LOTR trilogy, Star Wars and Empire (original, not that blasted "touch-up"), Streetcar Named Desire, Sunset Blvd, Die Hard, Rocky, Alien, Aliens, Elizabeth, Pushing Tin, Life Aquatic, Princess Bride, Princess Diaries, White Christmas, Sahara, Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, Bridge over the River Kwai, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffanies...

STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Although he became a caricature of himself over the years, I don't think there was a better film actor than a young Marlon Brando, in his prime.

GREAT list, cassandra. I forgot all about Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Shawshank Redemption the only Stephen King book that crossed well to the screen. Tim Robbins and my favorite actor Morgan Freeman were great together.

Thanks Jazz - I was likin' your list too. =)

"I coulda been a contenda..."

I hemmed and hawed about putting "All Along the Waterfront", but in total, it's not one of my favorites...on the other hand, the cab scene is enough alone to make it onto a favorite list.

We've got a lovely remastered DVD of Sunset Blvd - it's incredible. It looks and sounds like it was made yesterday - so CRISPY. Swanson just crackles....rawr. It'll make an old movie lover out of anyone.

Other movies that should be added that come to mind: LA Confidential, Shaun of the Dead, Trainspotting, Dr. Strangelove, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
