How long before I should worry?

Weebonnilass, when I mentioned offering food in 3 days, I meant in the case of a baby who'd refused a food offering. I'd never FEED that often. I know some folks power-feed, but I'm not one of them and I don't recommend it.

Aida, you seem to be a caring owner who does her research. Keep up the good work. Semy should come around soon.

Here's a picture of the "smudge" I was talking about. Turns out it isnt near her opening but a bit farther up on her. Its been in about the same place since I noticed it about 4 days ago.

Has anyone else seen anything like this or know what it is?

Thanx you all for all the great advice. I really appreciate it and I'm sure Semy will too as soon as she starts to eat again. :)

Caryl, Thanks for the compliment. I do like doing my research before and after owning a new pet. Afterall, its in their best interest. I love my "stubborn" little Semy! lol

I just wish that those first 2 pinks I had offered her, didn't die in vain, as they had to be tossed.... :nope:

Some bad news...

I took Semy in to Petco today to have her looked at before the 15 day guarantee expired to have her looked at. She had gone down in weight to 5.1g from 5.4g. I was speaking to one of the employees and she kind of let it slip that Semy was the one that hadn't been eating for them. I quickly inquired about it, saying that I was told she had been eating and her last meal was on the 24th with 2 pinks. She quickly tried to cover it up but I told her how there was no lump the very next day when I bought her, and that 2 pinks would have been alot for a snake this size. She stammered something about there being a mixup with a snake they had sold the day before that looked just like Semy.

Long story short, they took her back to see the vet and then was quickly brought back out and I was told she was impacted and thats what the smudge was. That that was why she hadnt been eating and that they would have to put her down because of her size and the situation. They gave me my money back and kinda just sent me on my way. I was so mad! I sat in my car and cried a little. I should have known better than to get anything other than a hamster or supplies from petco. Should I have done anything different? Was there anyway to help her pass her impaction? I just feel really bad. I really wanted a pet corn and she was just so cute.

I think the next time I'm gonna buy from a breeder from here or the good reptile shop by my house. I know one of their employees breeds corns. Maybe I'll go tomorrow and see what they have.

sorry for what happened. My female butter just died yesterday. Several people had different theories, and I'll never know what happened. I think it probably was impaction and I tried to do everything right. ( fed in a seperate container, fed right size prey..everything) I think things happen, it's nothing you did wrong. My butter came from one of the best breeder in the business.
Get another one when your ready, and get it from someone you know isn't going to lie to you just to get your money. (like most of the pet stores)
Once again, sorry..I understand how you feel.

Yeah I know how some petstores can be. Especially the big chains such as Petco. Although, I do think that Petsmart hold a higher standard of care than the petcos I've been to. Their employees also seem more knowledgable as I've found myself testing them with questions. :smash:

I did purchase another corn from a small reptile store. They know their stuff and were really a big help. I got a 0.1 Anery het motley from them. Really reassured me that she was a great feeder. And so far, she is.

Lol The picture angle makes her look googly eyed!
