How long do I wait before I get worried?

Dougefresh

How's your ASPEN
Well I guess its been a little more than 24hrs now and it looks like my girl my be stuck in a piece of driftwood! The piece of wood has a hole about the same size as her and I have seen her go in there before and actually back herself out of there so I know she has gotten out in the past but this time it looks like she has doubled back on herself and is stuck! She went in and looks like she changed her mind and tried to go back out the way she came in! So my question is how long do I wait before I gently rip the log in half and get her out! Maybe she can get out on her own or just likes to lay in there?

I don't know much but I am sure she can squeeze through. Try touching her/pushing gently to see if she moves. Anyway of pictures?

That's a tough call without being there and observing the snake.
Can you touch her? If you touch/prod her does either "stuck" part move? Does it look like she "wants" to move and can't? Watch closely and see if the wedged parts move past each other at all. If they can pass each other it's just a waiting for hunger game. If not I would start looking at the best way to gently cut or break the log.

I think we've only seen one "real" case of a stuck snake here. I would wait several days. When was she fed last? Should she be expected to come out and start hunting soon, or will she stay put to digest for a couple days?

Yeah you can see and touch her and when you touch her she seems to just tuck her self in more or make herself thinner trying to get away from whatever is touching her!

Ill wait a couple days her scheduled feeding is in a couple and if she still isnt out maybe Ill put a FT pinkie in a shallow dish and leave it in her enclosure and see what happens! Thanks everyone Ill post and let you know what happens!

pfffff! Seems like it was a false alarm I just took this pic looks like she can work herself free and just likes the log to hang out in! Thanks for the replies!sweet thang.jpg

I would take it away when she comes out. Fill in the hole with silicone or cut the log through the hole. To prevent problems in the future.

Or make the hole go through the log. When she gets stuck, or you just want her out, you can reverse your vacuum cleaner and blow her out. Do it safely, maybe into a sheet or blanket. You could even draw a target with scores on the sheet and make a game out of it.
Pets can be fun.

But seriously, I wouldn't want my snake to be able to get into a space where I couldn't get her.

i have no idea what the material is, plastic/wood/etc. But instead of throwing it away or replacing i would just make a larger hole.

Make a game out of a snake and vacuum cleaner....Am I the only one to find this a bit mean?

Make that ONE of the last people, Nanci. There are a bunch of us here like that. Thanks.

I would worry if I couldn't get my snake if I needed to. I don't know why I would absolutely need to, and it's never come up, but I still feel that way.
