How to get an all white Corn?

Arpolis

Corn Snake Breeder
Hello all

I am wanting to start a project in a couple of years when my current two snakes get to breeding age and I would like to work towards an all white corn snake with little to no patterns. I currently have one Snow (Female) and one Amel (Male). I do not know if they are het for anything because I could not get their genetic history. Just for funsies I would like to breed these two together to start off and see what I get. What would be a good third snake to bring into the gean pool to try and start on this all white snake project?

A bloodred stripe het amel and anery male to breed with your snow. Then, from that hold back 2 females and a male. Breed those together, and you'll get avalanche stripes. They're pretty darn close to all white with no pattern.

OK so if I read this right you all are pointing me towards the avalanche types which is pretty much a snow with diffusion and we just want to kick in a trip patter to help minimize the pattern if any. As I have been reading around I thought I may have started with the two wrong snakes and that Blizzard would have been my best route. Is there much difference from the Blizzard to the avalanche?

white snake

Get a pewter stripe then breed it to a anery carmel stripe snow and keep all the ones that are close to patternless. Then line breed those babys together and you should get excellent results!
When you are done notify me so I can see your results!

Cool Idea

So Strip is definitely on the menu now. I have been getting allot of my info from this web site " http://www.cornsnakemorphgallery.com " as to what names are related to what specific genes. But Pewter is not listed there. What makes up Pewter? Also I just have to question Caramel Snow? I only question that because I have not seen one before and I would just assume that it would throw more yellow in the mix.

white

I have got a blizzard that has no pattern what so ever. She has bright red eyes. I like the blizzards. Amel. and charcoal. But its all in what you prefer. I like snows too. I think since you already have a snow I would shoot for what Robbie told ya. Would make some nice babies.

If I am going for the quartz type then would it be beneficial to try and get snakes wit the Stripe Gene?

Because you can just go buy PJC Reptile's 2009 male powder for $300!! Instead of making your own. It's a steal! Have you seen him, or the 2008 that was the nominate snake, Powder?? (Just do a search- 2008 Powder os SO beautiful!!)

Yup :grabbit: That's what I was talking about ;)

:sidestep:

ps- I'm just joking around, I do know the pride and fun in creating your own, but I also know how fun it is to get a good jump and be hatching your own in just three years instead or six or nine ;)

OK I see what you mean. I am still partial to the quart because that involved bloodreds and I love blood reds. Still would it be beneficial to include any of the pattern morphs like Strip or Motely or would the diffusion take care of all of that with the quarts. Any ideas?

Stripe would be good to include, and some breeders even have lines called "Vanishing Stripe".

OK so here is what I have come up with then.
1) I have my Female Snow That I first want to mate with my Amel. They are both localy breed snakes so if there are any hets with them I think this will be the eisiest way to tell because they both probably have some of the same liniage.

2) Out of my breeding trials with these two I will take my most promising Snows and try to Purchas a Striped Pewter and mate those together.

3) If I can get some nice Quartz babies out of that I will then line breed them to get that Stripe Gene to come out.

This would probably take my at minimum 6 years as long as lady luck is on my side and assuming in a couple of years I can find a Striped Pewter out there. If not it will take time to breed together a striped pewter from scratch.

Once I get my line of Quartz corns where I like them I think it would be interesting to throw in a lavander into the mix and see if we can get some super purple snakes. Anyone have any other thoughts on the situation?
