I think I flipped my clutch!! HELP!

These are what the eggs look like now. Do they look normal? There's little spots on them, is that something to be concerned about?

I have them incubating at a temp of 28.5 celcius to 29.5 celcius (83.3F - 85.1F) and I put a damp napkin over them to keep the humidity up.

THEY ARE FINE. Now stop being a worry wort. I have turned the eggs through any stage of their development right to them hatching. Turn down the heat . Too hot, bring temps to 79 to 83. It will take a little longer to hatch but babies will use up more of the eggsack and come out a little bigger and be a more robust hatchling.

everything still ok?

Well two of the 12 eggs are looking funky. That one in the front and another one on the bottom. They're both discolored and seem mushy and soggy so I moved the perlite away so maybe they can get some better ventilation but I don't know. I candled the egg in the front, it looked pink and I saw a few veins so it should be alive but the discoloring gets worse every day.

This is what the eggs look like now, 8 days in. I feel really bad. I'm really hoping the rest of them will stay ok seeing that those two are going down hill so fast just 8 days in. They still have weeks to go.

During the day it gets really hot but at night it gets cold so I really only turn the incubator on during the night. In the day sometimes I have to leave it open to get it to cool down.

How hot does it get/ What is the coolest? I lost all 3 clutches last year to unstable temperatures and heat spikes.

Really? Yeah the temperatures go up and down a lot. The coolest it gets is probably around 80 and the hottest I've caught it at was 86. My aim is to keep it at 81 or 82. It's difficult because I can't be around it constantly during the day as it gets hotter to keep adjusting the temp.

Have you got a digital thermometer that will show the min/max temperatures over 24 hours? Is the incubator on a thermostat?

No the thermometer I have just shows the current temp. They are in a still air hovabator incubator which doesn't have a thermostat. It would be so nice if it did.

I'm not trying to scare you, corns are hardy snakes that will take a bit of variation during incubation. But temperature spikes cam cause problems. Mine looked great right up until after they were due to pip. I ended up with a kinked keeper and one so deformed I euthanised it. All the rest died in the eggs.

: ( That's too bad. How much did your temp vary?

It got over 90 on a few consecutive hot days because the thermostat didn't shut off quickly enough. (And hot weather like that is a rarity here!) So this year I've got a new incubator and better control (I hope).

Yeah The temp is different in my house all the time at this time of year where it's changing into summer weather. Some days are hot others are cold. I hope it goes good for you this year.
