I'm Doomed.

Well, my 2 corns got away. Yes, I was cohabbing them, yes I know I shouldn't have had. (I guess I'm a hypocrite in a way) But it was only temporary. So, Sunday I bought 2 tubs (for them) and it was feeding day. I haven't handled them in 2 days because I've been busy. But anyway, I checked on them and.. they are gone. There are no signs that the top was moved, AND it was TAPED so how they got out I have no idea. This is the same cage that my first snake got out of, so maybe the thing is cursed or something. :shrugs:
Now, yesterday I found the female's head poking out at me. She is in a hole that's maybe 2-3 inches in diameter, and it's by the heater (that doesn't work). WHAT DO I DO?! I am so mad (for lack of a better word) right now.
I tried to lure her in with food, but I scared her back in a couple times. Then when she finally started going out she went back in again.
Is there anything else I can try? I have the water bottle with mice (that are smelling my room up:rolleyes: )
I need help, fast!

OK, so I took my hammer into the closet (where the pipe and hole is) and no snake. So, she must have moved. I still need advice....

Use the powder trick I'm not entirely sure how it works but i think it goes like this (feel free to correct me). You put flour, chalk, talcum powder or some form of powder where you think they are and i believe the snake will leave a trail of powder.

I've read you can make a warm spot for them. Also, you can get a water bottle cut the top part off and invert it then tape the back up, then can get in but not out maybe throw a pinkie in there. The flour trick could work.

Try staying up really late and keep an eye out. If you have a cat, see if it takes special interest in anything, your snake might be there. I read on my ball python forum this man's snake got out and 8 months later the cat tipped him off and he found it.

In a case like this, here is what COULD/ SHOULD/WILL work.

You will need to keep calm, and KEEP A CLEAR HEAD!!!
(*What are you going to do with the hammer? )
PUT THE HAMMER AWAY!!!!:bang:

If you had seen it, then it could see you. In a case like this,
Dangling a thawed mouse, just out of it's reach, could have worked.
But it WILL require patience.

Just dangle the mouse, (roll the tail between your finger and thumb,
this will spin the mouse, and get the snakes attention.[incase you don't already do this])
where the snake can see it, But be prepared for the snake to make
a sudden strike at the mouse, you do NOT want it to get the mouse,
so keep moving the mouse away SLOWLY(!!)
you want to entice the snake, to come out and get the mouse. If the
snake looses interest, (and it probably will) just move the mouse,
closer to the snake, or spin the mouse faster. It will gain interest again.
DO NOT LET THE SNAKE GET THE MOUSE, until it is safely in your hand!!
If you actually let it get the mouse, you
could be in real trouble, as it may not be hungry enough,
to entice out, or it could get stuck when trying to digest the mouse
(no telling, how big the hole is, on the INSIDE).

ABOVE all be PATIENT!!
HTH's Good Luck!

She's gone...
I took the hammer went in the closet and made a hole where the current hole is. Nothing, she must have went when I went to sleep (I have school so staying up the whole night is hard)
I'll just keep on looking and trying everything everyday and hope she and he comes..
I think I'm either going to always have my snakes in tubs or just keep larger snakes... :shrugs:

Sorry to hear that.. Thats so frustrating.

I dont have any ideas for you sorry..

Really hoping you find them soon though

That sucks! Didn't you just get them too? I hope you find them! never lose hope lol. We had some milks get out a while back and they turned up like a week later just hangin out in the hallway one night hungary and ready to be warm again lol.

You could set out some scotch tape, sticky side up on the floor by places you think they might be and if they come out and slither on the tape they will get caught and you can get them. But make sure you use tape that isnt too sticky or you will harm your snake. Good Luck!

Thanks guys! Yes, I just got them, which is another reason why I am doomed.. I'm looking every night and I set up traps. I sleep with a flashlight in case I hear them slithering or something.

Take plastic grocery bags and place them near any hole in the wall where they might come out of and they will make noise when they slither through the plastic. You should definitely hear that. Good luck.

I'm not sure "doomed" is what I would use to describe the situation...

You killed a beauty snake that you didn't want to take to the vet and tried to frame a reputable breeder(whom is not even the breeder you got it from) for it's death.

You gave away(or sold?) the BP that someone gave to you for absolutely free(even paid the shipping!!) for who knows what reason.

And now the 1.1 pair of cornsnakes that you admit to having co-habbed have escaped...

Nope. "Doomed" is not quite the word I would choose to use to describe your snake husbandry...:grabbit::shrugs:

I'm asking you to please not bring that up again. I no longer want to deal with that.
OK...but out of idle curiosity...how many of these "doomed" scenarios are you going to allow yourself and your animals to go through before you take a serious re-consideration of how you care for your pets?

I'm really not trying to be a jerk, but it would seem to me that after the loss of at least 3 different snakes due to very bad conscious decisions...you would seriously reconsider what it is that you are doing with your animals, instead of treating people as though you are somehow better, smarter, and more well-equipped to care for snakes than they are, no matter who "they" might be.

How many "mistakes" does it take before they stop being "mistakes" and start being bad husbandry? How many animals are going to die or be killed before you take a serious re-evaluation of just exactly why and HOW you keep your animals?

Again...I'm NOT trying to be a jerk. But somewhere along the line, someone is going to have to draw your attention to the fact that YOU are the cause of these problems...not anyone else, and certainly not the animals. YOU are the reason that these animals are not thriving to their full potential and not even surviving.

I truly am sorry for the losses that you have had. But for all of your bluff and attitude on so many different forums...you continue to make choices that seriously jeopardize the health and well-being of your animals. Someone needs to call you out on that, and if it needs to be me, so be it. People here, there, and in many other places have tried, repeatedly, to be sympathetic and understanding. But how many more innocent snakes are going to die because of your bad choices before you realize that it is your own fault for not doing the right thing by your animals? How many more need to die because of your bad decisions? And all the while you refuse to listen to anyone else's advice, and insist on being extremely vociferous and arrogant towards OTHER people.

It really is sad...but unfortunately, I do not feel sympathy for you, I feel sympathy for your animals...

And just for the record...if I pulled those kind of stunts, I wouldn't want to deal with them anymore, either...

I no longer want to deal with that.

You no longer want to deal with it? I guess that means you want it to be forgotten and never brought up again? I have heard that mentioned by a others on this forum and elsewhere in life. I can tell you from my own experiences that the past isn't forgotten. Not that you have done anything too bad but I am just saying it probably won't go away.

I do hope you find your snakes because I can only imagine how hard it would be to lose a pet. Just remember it is not the cages fault that they got out. Before you buy anymore snakes you probably should review everything again and you should make sure there are no possible ways for your other snakes to get out.

That's it. PLEASE stop.
If you want to discuss the issue with me feel free to PM me, I've already been banned off of a forum because of this bull.
I seriously don't need this damn week to get any worse.

I don't want to "discuss" it with you. I want you to stop going from forum to forum posting these scenarios without informing people of what is REALLY happening. I want you to take responsibility for your own actions, drop your arrogance and attitude, LEARN when people are trying to help you, and stop making these mistakes in the future.

I'll be honest with you...I do not have a problem with you, despite what you may think. I DO have a problem with your attitude. If you lost the attitude, I think you could be an asset in many different aspects.

But you don't. You make these conscious decisions that cause harm to your animals, and than make posts about it on different forums in search of...something...I don't know what...sympathy, a shoulder to cry on...attention...I don't know what. But it isn't right...

And on top of it all...you are the first person to jump on someone and insult them and their husbandry PUBLICLY when you don't agree with something they have said or done. Is that the right way for a young lady to act?

Maybe this isn't the right place for me to post these things. But I seriously believe that you need to be made aware of what you are doing. This sort of behavior has consequences...everywhere. Here, there, the other 2 places that I know about, and only you know how many that I DON'T know about...

So...I'll drop it. I'll let it go. But think about it. Think about what you are doing, what you HAVE done, and how *should* act the next time you think someone is making a mistake with one of their animals. And really pay attention to how you respond to them. Really, really think about it. Hopefully, just before you hit that submit button, you'll stop and think. And maybe, just maybe, some of this will have sunk in, and instead of being "Miss High and Mighty", you'll get off the high horse, drop the attitude and reply with something that closely resembles respect for another person, instead of your usual barrage of insults, insinuations, and arrogance...

Excuse me, but what does that prove?
I was wrong about Glades... and?
I won't make the mistake again and I have asked you all to drop it or else I will get an actual "attitude". I'm seriously tierd of all of this. I know it won't go away but you guys just need to stop.
Do I really need another thread about this? No.

What it "proves" is that there is a re-current theme for you. This is your motis operandii. This IS what you do...you post threads, seek drama, accuse, lie, belittle, insult, and pretend that you can do no wrong. It's only a matter of time before it happens here, there, and everywhere else...
