Informal Corn Snake Weight Length Data Collection.

DollysMom

It never gets old!
On another thread, it came up that it would be be interesting to have weight and length data on our corn snakes. Of course this is very informal. I hope eventually to make an informal graph, but no promises.

Weight and length at any one point in time is required. Age and sex is not, but can be included in you have it. Please don't guess. Use a scale and a ruler or a serp measuring app. Old records are fine, just the wt and length need to have been taken at the same time.

I'll start first:

28 grams, 22 inches, age and sex unknown.

That thread ended without the proposed spreadsheet, and more importantly to me, most of the contributors did not include length data. I like DollysMom's format better. Just my humble opinion.

I have a ton of weight measurements for my snakes, but I don't measure their length as often because it's much more time-consuming, so I mostly included data that had both weight and length.

Thank you so much, hypnoctopus! I guess I better get busy and start graphing before this gets away from me.

You inspired me to measure some of my snakes today, so here are a few more measurements.

Male, 37 months, 4 ft 1.3 in, 358 grams.
Male, 39 months, 4 ft 9.8 in, 377 grams.
Female, 31 months, 3 ft 8.4 in, 296 grams.
Male, 24 months, 3 ft 1.6 in, 153 grams.

Good luck! I'll be interested to see your graph.

Thanks for all your data. You are awesome.

I haven't graphed anything in a while, but I have a copy of Excel on my laptop that should do the job. I expect to have a "rough draft" by Wednesday.

I finally remembered to bring my log book upstairs with me. I also don't record length nearly as often as weight, but I've got a few stats to add for your graph. Ages are approximate.

Female:
10 grams, 15", 2 months old
15 grams, 17.75", 4 months old
35 grams, 23.5", 7 months old
92 grams, 29.5", 13 months old

Female:
7 grams, 12", 1 month old
12 grams, 14.75", 3 months old
32 grams, 20.75", 6 months old
79 grams, 28.75", 12 months old

Female:
11 grams, 14.5", 3 months old
29 grams, 19.75", 6 months old
70 grams, 27.5", 12 months old

Male:
6 grams, 12.25", 2 months old
14.5 grams, 17.85", 5 months old
47 grams, 26", 11 months old

Male:
30 grams, 22.5", 11 months old

I'll contribute with mine.
I have records for every month since 1.5 months old, but I'll only post the first and the 3 last. Haven't measured him this month yet. (I don't know when you change from inches to feet in imperial measures, so I'll post in inches)

Male
1.5 months, 12.2", 9 gr
7 months, 19.5", 30,5 gr
8 months, 21.25", 39 gr
9 months, 23", 48 gr

Thanks Mishima25. Like I said, don't worry about the conversions or units. As long as I know what unit you used, I can figure that out no problem.

Okay, I've started data entry. It is slow going. I don't mind, but even doing this much took me an hour. Maybe it will get faster with practice. This will take a while as I don't have more than an hour a day to devote to it.

This is a screenshot of a very preliminary rough draft. The great thing is once the data is all entered then I can make things prettier and can provide the spreadsheet to anyone so they can manipulate the data as needed.

I offer this in good faith of work yet to be done. The vertical axis is length in inches and the horizontal axis is weight in grams. I'm also entering the age and sex, where I have it, into the spreadsheet, but not graphing it at this point.
