It happened again :(

Oooh okay. I was slightly confused. :p

Yeah, I agree... I've never been impressed with PetSmart.

lol yeah i was too after i read what i wrote..
its been aloooong day... I think im going to let my girlfriend take a look at Carols selection and see if theres anything she might think is pretty to her. I will let you guys know how my battle with petsmart works out..

Thanks again to everyone.

Uh oh, hope you find it. The nearest PetSmart to us are a bunch of jerks. The PetCo's aren't bad though.

When we were shopping around for two new kittens, we stopped in at the PetSmart on a day that they had some available to view.

I asked one of the ladies if I could hold a kitten I liked the looks of and she turned around, looked me up and down, and said "We only let people who actually want to buy one of the kittens hold them" all rude-like, and then she walked away.

I was FUMING. I was like "And who said that I DIDN'T want to buy one?!", but she had left by then. I was going to complain but my fiance convinced me to let it go so I just left. (I can get pretty irate in situations like that, and rightly so, imho :D)

I told myself before that I would never go in there again. I gave them one more chance and then the kitten incident happened. They could have proven me wrong but all they did was validate my disgust for them.

SUPER hope you find a snake you're interested in. I know I've had my eye on a few of Carol's as well but with the economy the way it is I'm going to have to be happy for awhile with the Okeetees, Reverse Okeetees, and Anerys that I produce myself, lol.

I've also never been impressed with their customer service! The Cashiers are always rude, hardly ever say 'Hi, how are you' or anything like that. And when we got our Siberian Husky, Murrey, we went in there because we had a coupon to get $10 off a basic dog grooming package. We decided that it would be a good thing for him to get a bath by groomers, hoping it would be a good experience for him.... The whole time he was back being washed he howled and cried, then when they dried him he was still wet! To top it off, the sign that listed the different packages stated that with the puppy wash they would put either bows or a bandana on the dog once finished... nothing.

Needless to say I never went back.

As for holding the pets... We went into PetCo when we were looking for a rat to go with our first one and even though we were JUST looking the worker there opened the cages and let me hold any of the rats I wanted to before making a decision. Even though I said, no she didn't seem to mind. We did end up buying substrate and stuff, so we were paying customers. But, the difference between the two is noticable for me. I will chose PetCo over PetSmart ANY day. :)

Pet stores around here suck period. I would rather pay the extra money to have an animal shipped from a good and friendly breeder. You should also check out Kathy Love's page thats where I got my first corn from and she was a pleaure to work with. She even helped me when he regurged and was kind, patient, and informative!

Agreed. They know me there (at PetCo) and I generally go in and ask them to dig around in their cornsnake tank for me so I can see if they have anything interesting in (I've seen Bloods and Reverse Okeetees before), and occasionally I will ask to hold one... They've always been super cool with it and never made me feel like I was bugging them.

Also, one time I was sticking my face near the tank to get a closer look when I got a whiff of "dead". I mentioned it to the reptile employee, he came over, opened the tank, pulled out a dead cornsnake and looked like very upset. He said that they were having issues with their supplier and he was very obviously bothered by the fact that one had died (it was a nice RO, too!!).

I was sad that it died as well... but I was happy to see that they had someone in there that cared so much.

Ive contacted both Carol and sent an email to Buckeye River Reptiles, depending on whos shipping is cheaper is the one ill go with.

I have not found that contract so i guess im going to go ahead and just suck up my loss and give the lil guy a proper burial.

Thanks again to those who recomended breeders and just felt for me, everyone is pretty nice on this forum and thats somthing not really seen much online.

No problem Jeremy! *hugs for you and your family* We just lost one of our pet rats, so I completely understand what you're going through. Others here understand that as well. I'm glad you aren't giving up on snakes just yet. Good luck!
