You left a live mouse in with him? That was very dangerous!!

BTW I moved your thread to the General Chit Chat section; only cornsnake photos can go in the photo gallery.

I like Normal bps :D I have 2 and like em both very much. One of mine is starting to go blue on me also.

I agree with Nancy though, leaving a live mouse alone with a snake is asking for trouble. For this reason I try to switch all my snakes to F/T. Im still working on the new one though.

ok sorry I saw that after i posted...

Yes. I breed my own mice for temperament and have never had any issues with any biters he only eats in his tank he likes to explore too much. I always make sure the mouse isnt agressive before i walk away and always put lab blocks in his tank if its an overnite meal.

and normally he doesnt let them live longer than an hour. I fell asleep (i know im a bad parent) and rushed for work this morning and just did a quick glance didnt see it or him so i figured he ate it and was in his hide sleeping. came home looked in and saw the head...

Funny picture, but even the calmest rat or mouse will bite when a snake pounds it and starts squeezing it to death.

For some reason he only ever grabs them by their face... He literally waits until they face him and then grabs them. (Dont know if thats normal or not but...)

Thats what my Corn snake does, dead or alive he grabs it by its face. Which he is only fed F/T now.

Congrats on your BP.

Like everyone else said though you should not leave a live mouse in the tank. If you give him a live mouse you should stay there until it eats and if it doesn't eat it take it out before you leave.

A mouse probably won't hurt a BP just from normal feeding. My Carlotta got a little nip/scratch from a mouse and it healed fine with a little neosporin. Now she doesn't want to eat on her own though... scared of the food!

The worst injuries come from leaving a mouse in with a BP for long periods of time. BP isn't hungry, mouse is. BP becomes lunch. I've seen some very graphic pictures.

Yeah Ive heard of that happening thats why anytime a mouse goes in so does a lab block

Just cause you put food in does not mean the mouse won't go after the snake.

I've seen pictures where people have left the mouse in the tank unsupervised and the mouse chewed the skin off the snake. It's horrible and can be easily prevented if you just make sure the snake eats before leaving the room.

I suggest you not leave the snake alone with a mouse/rat but ultimately it's your decision, it may not happen to you but why take the risk.

A lab block doesn't eliminate the risk. That's a nice snake, it would be a such a shame to see this happen.

Putting food in there for the mouse/rat does not eliminate the risk.

NEVER LEAVE LIVE FOOD WITH ANY SNAKE UNSUPERVISED! Ever.

I don't care if your mice are not biters, or the snake has always been fine. It only takes once to end up with a snake chewed up from head to tail.

People eat rattlesnake meat. I wonder what it tastes like. If it tastes like chicken I would just go with chicken...

Depending on the size of the Snake, there is most likely more meat on a Chicken (compared to Corns and Bps of course haha).
