Sweet!
Sounds like you are keeping on top of stuff!
You have a lucky snake.

Keep in mind that the temp will rise in the hottest part of the day, so that is when you want to check the temp to make sure it isn't too high.

FYI- my UTH's easily get up to 110 or so when I don't use a dimmer. I have several different brands. ::shrug::

I agree with Naagas...my UTH easily reaches 105-110 degrees unregulated. I don't think there was anything wrong with the one you had. JMO.

We use the Zilla thermostats to, but exactly the opposite problem from above...ours needs set about 10 degrees lower than the temps I want in order to get the right temps for the snakes. And mine always hide under their water bowls on the cool side of the tank...I know they make regular excursions to the warm side though, because that's where they poop ;)

Just out of interest do you get Habistat Thermostats in the USA (see picture under my user name), as they are very popular in the UK.

Kindest regards

Habistatman

I have never personally seen them here, but the only thermostats I see near me are the zillas. What do they run anyways?

I'll be honest, I didn't really read pastthe first page of posts, so if I'm totally off topic forgive me. But I watched your video and it made me smile. I really forgot how small my baby was, untill looking at that. When I got him, he could barely handle pinkies. Now he's almost two and a half feet. My friends always say he got huge and I just don't see it.
Mine used to be so slow with feeding to, investigate, and sniff, dart around. But now he just goes in for it and attacks! ...yes they are frozen too lol
When I first got mine, I was worried about his behavior too, luckfully you got some nice responces. Everyone got mad at me and was like "oh you shouldn't have a snake if you don't know they take at least a week to settle in" "You should of read more, and not just rushed into a pet." Little did they know I got a book all about them, it just didn't cover that.
But yes, it's normal. Mine still likes to hide, seems like what most of them like to do. I still always think it's weird when he'll stay on the cool side for a long time too since he never is.
I've noticed my corn LOVES his tissue box hide that I made. he has bark hides, and a drift wood branch, nice bedding, and fake leaves. It loks really nice, but I put a tissue box in, and he loves it, and that's where he is 95% of the time, even though it's pretty ugly, it makes him happy, so it stays. :)

^^ I too forgot how little they can be!
I got two new little worms... they are so TINY and delicate looking. So darn cute!

yea he is really tiny(13 or so inches) but i love him to pieces. He is finally gettin used to me holding him more and more. It's just amazing when he is crawling through my fingers it just makes me smile. I told my mom that it feels better then a back massage when the slither around on your arms and hands and she just shivers and walks away ( she hates snakes).

I have a log hide and a paper towel roll and an old skull fish decoration in his cage right now. When i put the paper towel roll in he immidiatly came out of the log and went in the roll and laid there for quite a while and just loved it. But when i put the skull inside the cage he had to go investigate and ended up crawling up and out the eye socket of it. It looked awesome unfortuatly i didnt have my camera near me at the time so i couldnt capture it.
