Lava Mix....

This is from a lava butter project. The parents are normals het lava, caramel and amel. I got a lot of non-normals, eh?

Actually, this is the second half of the clutch. I split the eggs into two containers and the first one had almost all caramels and normals and this one had what you see. Odd....

So those are lavas, amels and a lava caramel...I think lol...nothing that looks like a lavamel, Jeff?...and the eyes on the lava caramel look "non-amel" so it's not a "buttered topaz" lol?...Neat lookin stuff,

I think he may have small hands . . . like Dean . . . :sidestep:

Congrats on the clutch Jeff. Definitely peculiar how the normals and caramels hatched in one box and these in the other.

I didn't think of that possibility :headbang:

I think my hands are too big ;) all my hatchlings look very small in handling pictures

Why did you split the clutch in 2 containers ? Splitting risk of going wrong or just there were too much for 1 container ?

Why not? They're hatched and moving...The risk of cannibalism is strongest when they're little. Mine are split up immediately into individual tubs upon hatching.

Sweet Topaz, Jeff.

Sometimes I split the clutches when they are laid if they are easy to separate. If I'm using the small containers, I feel the less eggs per container the better. This one split easy so I put it in two containers.

And yes...part of me likes to split to make sure everything goes right. In fact, I've got two incubators running and sometimes I split the clutch and put one container in each incubator....but that is only for the real special clutches where there is no back ups. I had 4 females lay this year for this particular combo! ;)

Well...they've all shed and here are some current pics...

amazing pictures, and stunning snakes there.

for what its worth, i split mine up as soon as they hatch. the only time they will see another snake is when breeding.

I don't split them up until after they have their first shed.....mainly so I can see them side by side and see the variations. Then....like yours, no visits until they are adults. ;)
