Lola - Progression

She has to be about the prettiest creamsicle I've ever seen, and I'm not a big fan of them! It will be interesting to watch her color change as the amount of yellow at her age, in conjunction to her hybrid status, might be because she's actually a buttercream. Her pattern seems to have a bit more orange, but some butters have that look as well when very young. I also caught the cubed pattern as soon as I saw her, and she has a masque head pattern as well. I know masque is not actually linked to it, but if you do plan on breeding in the future, test her for being het bloodred (and het caramel if she gets more orange instead of yellow).

No problem!! Those are taken by Kathy Love. I'd DEFINITELY recommend buying her book. It's considered the corn snake bible around these parts.

Thanks, I will definitely pick up that book :)

Also, just wanted to let you know that Lola is a Creamsicle Cube (as Nanci referred to). Cube is a form of Stripe. Just to confirm, she has a totally white belly right?!

Yep, she has a white belly, no markings. I'm just learning all about the different morphs, hybrids, patterns etc. so I really appreciate all the information.

Thanks Nancy, I searched MASQUE here and read some more information on that. Very interesting. I don't know if I'll breed her or not... I certainly don't know enough yet, but I have a few years to learn before she's old enough so that's a good thing. The terminology is all somewhat confusing, but I'm learning. I really appreciate all the input :)

Lola is doing fabulous!!! She weighed in at 14 g today!!!! She was a fussy eater at first.... but I got her over that hurdle and now she is a good eater!!!

She had her first shed (since I got her) on 11/7. I had the pleasure of seeing it as it happened. I had a feeling it was coming so I turned off all the lights except for the red light over her cage and one minute she was in her tree hide and the next thing I know she was slithering out of her skin. It was fascinating to watch and I enjoyed it in silent amazement. She didn't get the last inch of tail skin off.... so I went to bed. The next day it was still stuck so I put her in the bathtub with 1 inch of 70 degree water and let her swim... then took her out, held her till dry and put her back in her viv. She went right for the log and the last bit peeled right off. I was even more happy... like I helped her get rid of that pesky last bit that was hanging on.

She is friendly and docile and while not yet crazy about being removed from her viv.....she seems to appreciate the handling and freedom I give her once she's actually out. Here is a snap from yesterday
