Looking for new snake

The size of a Skoal can? Seems pretty small to me. I usually see babies in deli cups at least 4" in diameter. I'd feel sorry for a snake forced into a skoal can-sized cup.

I'm going to try and make it to the may reptile convention in lexington. I don't know what to expect so well see lol. But nice to know your still around :)

A small sized container for travelling makes sense. The more room there is, the greater for the potential for the hatchling to be thrown about in transit. We're all careful when transporting our animals, but you can never bargain on the sudden need to swerve or hitting an unexpected pothole in the road.

They wouldn't be living in containers that small.

I stick by my earlier statement. A Skoal can is what, maybe 2-1/2" in diameter? I consider that very cramped for a hatchling even, and yes, I would feel sorry for that snake.

Fair enough. I think your concern is misplaced as a larger container in those specific circumstances would increase the risk of injury, but I guess we can't agree on everything! You'd probably feel even sorrier for an injured Corn.

I got my snow from a private reptile and fish store. The colubrid side of the store was in good order, there were many different types of rats and kings that I'd only seen in snake books and on web sites. The carpet pythons had wonderful enclosures, but the ball pythons were in a sorry state. My husband informed the two goth kids working there on proper ball python care before we left to think about the corn snake. We returned the next day and the ball pythons we all separated and the female who looked gravid was out of the display case. I did pay a higher price for my snow, but there are no local breeders where I live or they are very quiet about it. I would've paid the same amount for a snow as well as shipping anyway. I do believe the snake is not a male and I bought it as a him, this doesn't bother me since I'd rather have a female. My next snake will be ordered from Don S. or another well established breeder.

You shouldn't be afraid of ordering a snake, most pet stores get them that way. You can have it delivered to the Fed Ex office and do a pick up if you don't want the snake on a delivery truck. Or do research to find a local breeder; I'd start with exotic vet clinics. Good luck.
