Miami Tessera's :)

It is starting!!! I checked the egg box and saw a face sticking out! :)
Day 64 with consistent temps right at/around 81°

It is going to be hard to not keep going back into the room to check!
Here is a quick photo.
It would be awesome of any of the babies were Amel, even if one of the non Tessera's, but if not, I'll be working on proving out both parents in the next year or two.

Update as of this morning....
Seven have emerged. Six Tessera's, one normal.
From what I can tell, out of 19 eggs, only three are normals. That means I am keeping 16 Tessera's to test breed, if all of the others hatch ok... Yikes!

I apologize that I don't have time to post individual pics this morning, but I will give you the like to MY iHERP page, so you can see the babies that have emerged so far.

A couple of the babies look like they will have the lighter coloring like their sire.

I am looking forward to seeing how these babies turn out!

I will start a progression thread for them after they all shed.

Ok, here we go!

One of the remaining two emerged.
The last one is either still absorbing yoke, or has a small opening on his/her belly.
I made sure it is damp enough, and left him/her in the bin.
I have had babies with partial open bellies who have healed up and thrived, so I am optimistic that this one will. This last one came from the egg that dented a couple weeks ago, and started discoloring, so I wasn't sure if this one would hatch.

I like the borders and coloring on one if the normal siblings (#14), and I will likely keep that one, if he/she keeps nice Miami coloring.

The other two normal siblings will be going to a local girl, who is doing a study through school. She will be charting their feeding and growth rates, through May.
She will keep one, and the other will come back to me. I will likely sell that one.

I took more pics of the normal sibling that I really like.
I cannot wait til these babies shed!

That normal is very cool!

Thank you! I think so too!
I wasn't planning on keeping any normal siblings, only Tessera's, but this one needs to stick around. :)

Murphy was good to me, out of 19 eggs, only 3 were normal siblings.
Now I get to grow up 16 Tessera babies to test out for Super!

I'll start a separate thread for progression pics and future testing.

Omgosh! Congrats! They're sooooo cute!!

Thank you!!
I tell you, it never gets old to see those little noses!
So far, they have all been 7 grams, with the exception of a couple who hatched out at 8 grams.
Although I suspect that this last little one will likely be about 6 grams.

It is going to be tough to wait until after they shed to take more pics. :)

I'm not sure if this little one is going to thrive, but s/he has been moved to a clean bin, and I will keep an eye on this one.
