MO CORNFED

3yrs married,3yr Marine
So I've met a couple military members and or brats, so I've decided that all of us need a shout out. Plus I'm just in a really good mood today.

Special thanks to Clai National Guard for helping with the fires, as well as 7th marines, and CDF/CHP. (California Dept. of Fire Rescue), (California Hwy Patrol)

Take a min and thank all the men and woman in Iraq, see you in 9 months

I couldn't vote on any of the choices, but my Grandpa was in the Army, my Dad was in the Navy, and 2 of my uncles were in the Marines or in the Army. I also have a friend in the National Guard. Thanks for your service...:)

I served for 15 years in the Army and loved every minute of it. I was a Sergeant First Class (E7) when I got our last year. In fact, I wish I was still doing it. I really dont like civilian life.....

I am an air force brat! Does that count?

Military brat is on the list, that def counts, you guys got it harder then the members do. Most the time I appreciate the spouse and kids more than I do the members, especially after I've had to deal with the stress it puts on my relationship with my wife

I can't vote because I am none of those things...

BUT...I want to extend my own hand and heartfelt thanks to all of the men and women, past, present, and future, that stand ready, willing and able to defend me, my daughter, and our way of life to their own deaths, if necessary. You all have the toughest job in the world, bar none. I can't say enough how much I, personally, appreciate every single one of you...

I was an Army cook (Quartermaster Corps!) 4 years. Got to compete in the Army Culinary Arts competitions http://www.californiawineandfood.com/food/army.htm I'm the one in the first picture standing at parade rest while everyone else isn't, lol. Yeah but we won- Team Korea and then we got back to Korea to beat the Marine Corps team there.
Also spent some time in Iraq. Spent most of my time there between Ramadi and Haditha Dam... I had a pretty great time in the Army, but was quite sure it wasn't for me by the time my 4 years was up. Overall, I probably would have liked it better in another job, but whatever.

I'm currently IRR though, so I probably could have selected reserve too.

I was almost Navy when I was a young man. But an irregular heart beat created some complications :awcrap:

I have a great deal of admiration for all the brave men and women who fight for the freedoms that so many of us take for granted. *salutes*

I was ALMOST in the Navy as well, and many times later in the Army, I wished I had gone that route, lol.

As for the age limit, I was in basic with a guy in his forties who had all gray hair... We all called him 'Pops'. And I was worried that at 25, I would be the old guy. Yeah every rule the Army once had about enlistment is out the window. Or rather, it needs a 'waiver'. And you'll get the waiver pretty much no matter what.

As far as 65 though, I think that one only applies for doctors. Oops, I said that wrong.. They won't bring docs in at 65, but they will let them stay on till 65..

I also do not fit into any of those categories. However, both grandfathers were Army, uncle was Air Force, brother is currently career Air Force, sister was Army now Army wife and son is currently in basic training Army. So I definitely have an appreciation for all our service members and the job they do. Always keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

I've got retired uncles who were in the Royal Navy (Chief Petty Officer) and RAF (Wing Commander) My chap was an RAF fighter pilot, honorable discharge from service.
I have vivid memories of the family vigil while my grandad was dying, with various uncles talking about their time in National Service, serving in Burma.
If I'd done my training earlier I'd have definately looked at nursing in one of the services.

I was active duty Air Force and Air Force reserve for a few years after. Miss it all the time. Actually probably more like I miss the folks I had the honor to serve with. Some really great men and women in the US Armed Forces! Thank all those that serve everyday!

I applaud you, I feel the same way and that is a great way to wrap it up. I also just have to add thank you everyone that has ever served.

AMERICA!
