Hey man your the reason I don't have to work in the states as hard as I do in Iraq.

I appreciate you guys, more then I appreciate some of the other service members. I am a heavy equipment mech/operator in the corps, and I alwsys thought about going to the coast guard and being a helo mech so that I could stay in the states.

I come from a LOOOONG line of Marines. I'm also considering the Officer's Program, but I'm waiting to make a decision.

Its not a bad job at all. You know you could transfer over directly into the coast guard. Although if you are above e-4 you would probably have to take a pay hit for a year or so until you got through school and such.

Military brat is on the list, that def counts, you guys got it harder then the members do. Most the time I appreciate the spouse and kids more than I do the members, especially after I've had to deal with the stress it puts on my relationship with my wife

Thanks for including military brats, I never met my Dad until I was almost three. Right before he came home my Mom would show me pictures of him in his dress blues. We were in Great Lakes Naval Hosp. for check-up or something, while waiting I guess I took off running creaming Daddy, Daddy and jumped in this mans arms, I guess he said well honey I'm not your Dad but you are a cutey, he was an African American man. All I saw was the dress blues and he was tall like they said my Dad was.
I also went to 9 grade schools in 8 years and 2 high schools. It isn't as hard now they don't transfer military as much.
So thanks for including us, susang

I was a Navy Brat, then in Navy, Now have 2 Nephews
in the Marines! 1 is in Iraq the other is stationed at
Edwards Air Force Base (Yeah, a Marine unit at an Air Force base)
I too, SALUTE all of our men and women in the Service..
"Freedom isn't FREE" these young people work HARD for
us to enjoy what we do...

THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!

Hey the brats are important too. Like you said you didn't know your father for a while, and thats a big deal, I have alot of friends that get their girls pregnant and leave for a year and or right before the baby is born, and never see their kids grow up.

Personally, I think the 'brats' of today are much luckier. For instance, Dad may be in Iraq, but he gets the chance to get on IM or videochat, and check his e-mail once in awhile. By no means is it as good as if Dad is home, but it's better than nothing.

I can't vote because I am none of those things...

BUT...I want to extend my own hand and heartfelt thanks to all of the men and women, past, present, and future, that stand ready, willing and able to defend me, my daughter, and our way of life to their own deaths, if necessary. You all have the toughest job in the world, bar none. I can't say enough how much I, personally, appreciate every single one of you...

I'll add my sincerest appreciation and gratitude as well! I have several close friends who are serving or have served in various branches of the military.

I was in the Navy, as was my father. I was born at the base hospital, Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.

My wife served in the US Army, first at Fort Sam Houston and later at Walter Reed Medical Center...

I usually don't post to stuff like this but I felt the need to say thank you to all of you who have served or currently served in the military. My list of family is

Navy - Dad, Grandfather, and Uncle
Marines - Brother (Now CA hwy patrol)
Army - Hubby (now out but was still in Reserves when we got together) and my brother-in-law is active duty currently stationed in D.C
I also have several other family members who serve in various police forces.

I strongly disagree with most of what is going on in Iraq but you guys/gals are over doing the job you signed up to do and I salute you for that. I remember Dad's reactions in '91 when the first Gulf War started. His greatest fear was that these kids would come back home to what he did after Vietnam. I hope that everyone no matter how they feel about the war can remember to support the people that have no choice in being over there. And for those who are over there or going over soon...Stay safe, keep your heads down and come home safe. Blessings to all of you.

OK I put a vote in for my bro retired 20yrs. Airforce

I guess I could had voted for my good ole' Dad! Army Man!

I got a cuple friends that got deplayed and all I can say is GET THEM OUT NW! They have n buisness there specially us Canadians...We didnt choose to fight this war nor do we want to! Just my two cents without getting TOO critical. Dont take it the wrong way I support the troops...just nt the reason why they are there. All the best of luck to those who still have their lives and hope to see them soon.
