Are you using a HabiStat UTH mate? If so, they're completely waterproof, so you wouldn't have to worry about urine or water touching it.

Sorry Dave, have to disagree on that one. I had an accidental spill on the junction of wire and mat with one of these a few years back, and it was an instant case of "frying tonight". You need to provide as much shielding as possible if you use these inside a viv - they're deffo not waterproof.

Okay, maybe completely waterproof was a little bold, but you certainly have to be unlucky for that to happen (as you were). The vast majority, apart from the junction, appears to be waterproof as it's been laminated, I've cleaned them in the past and I haven't had any issues. 2/3 inches of aspen would soak up the vast majority of a Corn's urine, wouldn't it?

Usually you can. But I think some of your guys go to Wallmart for them as well

Hi, i'm living in Dublin, Ireland and i was giving a price of 100euro from 2 differant shops for the habistat thermostat.. but i picked one up for 31euro from ebay- new in the box.. works a treat.. Ebay is great so long as you know exactly what your looking for ...
