Morph Chart?

The best way to learn is by doing exactly what you're doing...research research research. I still do TONS of research on corn and boa genetics, and I've been doing this for 5 years. I just love learning things (especially when it comes to genetics...I have a strange passion for genetics). A knowledge of basic genetics is very helpful (if you don't have it, work on that before you try to learn morph genetics...it comes a lot easier that way), which is why I suggested Genetics for Herpers in addition to the Morph Guide. I hope you got both! :D
 
yeah haha I pretty much got book happy and bought all the books ive ever seen recommended on here :) haha I cant wait to read them :)
Its really quite funny cause I am taking a class with my boyfriend and he sits through the class proving math formulas, like the quadratic equation and all the trig equations and stuff like that :) (Hes too smart for his own good)
anyways, the last few classes ive been sitting there calculating what I would get by adding such and such snakes together :D I feel just as smart as him now cause he was sooo confused by all my little diagrams :D

I used to do the same thing with math stuff in high school. I would do all of our trig worksheets for fun and even ask our teacher for more problems! (I'm a nerd. :D) Now, I do the same with corn genetics...I'm always scribbling ideas for projects down in all my notebooks and mixing and matching my snakes up (I used to do it in my genetics class ALL THE TIME because I didn't need to pay attention, all the stuff from that class came so easily to me). I don't use Punnett squares anymore, as I'm doing triple/quad/quint trait crosses and they would get disgustingly messy, but I can do it all in my head, for the most part. It gets really fun seeing all the crazy outcomes in the third and fourth generations of some outrageous crosses (even if they'll never happen)!!

It sounds like you may end up as passionately crazy as me! :crazy01:
 
hahaha Im really hoping!! I would love to breed cause I have a few ideas for projects!! Ill probly still be all crazy and passionate about this stuff anyways :D I want to know it all so I can pick out EXCACTLY what kinda of colour combos I want in the next snake(s) im going to get :p
 
I will admit that I did not fully read the last part of this thread, but it seems that the OP is having some difficulty understanding just what some of the morphs are and how to get them.

Sample question: "What makes a lavender?"

Answer: There is no special recipe to make a lavender. All you need are 2 snakes that carry at least one simple recessive mutated gene that creates the lavender look and have those genes become paired in an offspring. Finding those mutated genes has always strictly been luck.

You want a chart. All you need is a list of the known mutated genes. It is that simple. Everything else is combining those genes together to create other morphs. All the information you need is in the morph guides you already have.
 
You realize that a chart with all the possible mutant combinations would have hundreds of entries, I hope.

It is inaccurate. It has zig-zag listed as being a pattern caused by the motley gene, which is untrue. It's also saying that 'ice' is a mix of lava and charcoal when it is lava and anery A. It is also lacking many 'common' morphs, such as phantom.
 
ok, thanks for that i'll have to try and fix it, It was found in a way older thread. Is there something like this but more acurate out there? If not I'd love to know if theres any other errors

Actually, it has ice listed correctly, but I think it's a confusing lay out (which I expect a chart of this would be...and will only get worse if it tried to manage 4 trait snakes)

As far as the ice, lava + line coming down from charcoal. The charcoal line doesn't go to the ice though, just diamond. Next to ice (on the right) is a little number...6, i think?...which corresponds to the number under the anery A trait...so it shows ice as lava + anery a.
 
Yeah its kind of hard to look at :p very small but I have the bigger version on my computer :) I agree that if there was any more information on there is would get really really hard to read but for up to the point it goes to it does the trick for what i wanted :D
