Moss

Seen a few bits and pieces about live moss in enclosures, I was wondering how you would do this and maintain it, what benefits does it have for the snakes?
Also does anyone know anywhere to get any that is snake friendly within the UK.

I'm not sure about live moss, but many people use sphangum moss and get it damp and place it within a hide to create a "humid hide" which helps with shedding. I have also seen some people just place clumps of it in the viv for corn snakes to burrow in. Oh sugar! Yeah that's what i meant haha was up a bit late last night and must of frazzled my brain.

that's not a bad price to be honest, may have to get some.

do you just mist it down inside the hide?

Just rinse it under the tap then squeeze the water out in your hand. It should only be damp not wet.

May have ordered the moss...... and a variety of other items

How much moss do you use or is it just personal preference?

Not much, I use just enough to cover the base of a medium snake cave http://www.bluelizardreptiles.co.uk/vivariumdecor/hidesandcaves/015561228466

That should give you an idea of what I do.

You can also use a Tupperware container half full of moss with a hole cut in it for the snake to enter instead of the snake cave (Humid hide)

As you can see Toblerone is in blue and taking advantage of the snake cave and hiding under the moss.

Brilliant! Thank you for that , i've ordered from blue lizard reptiles Seems they do a great deal on frozen mice to so will stick with them for now.
