Movies With Snakes In Them

I was watching Batman and Robin today and starting laughing when I realized I recognized a few of the "poisonous" snakes on Poison Ivy. I believe one was either an amel or snow corn. Hard to tell with all the green light. The other I think was a king, but not sure.

What movies have you seen that use common snakes like corns as "deadly" snakes? On a side note, I know they use mealworms for maggots a lot.

Snakes On A Plane. Haha jk
I have never seen that movie before. But its seems like they have a wide variety of snakes in that movie. They might have thought they 'deadly' :D

Not snakes, but beardies were used in the movie Holes. Actually, the "yellow spotted lizards" were portrayed at first as frilled lizards, and then later a beardies. Totally confusing, if you ask me, lol

There is an 1970's movie called "Frogs", basically the whole movie is about reptiles going crazy and killing people. There are a few snakes in the movie, all non venomous but still manage to kill people with their bites :). I laughed through the whole movie since the "frogs" they used were really toads (don't think i saw one frog during the entire movie). They play it on the syfy channel sometimes.

"Snakes on a Train" (actually made before snakes on a plane) is a pretty high-quality piece of cinema if you're looking for a laugh! lol
It's 2 mexicans trying to hop the border on a train but one of them has some sort of witchdoctor curse that makes snakes appear under the skin. So, of course, they put them in mason jars and bring them along and, of course, the snakes get loose.
Then there's a giant snake in the end...

And another slithery bit of film: the Harry Potter movie with the basilisk. Here we have a giant snake, named after a lizard, that has eyelids and alligator teeth. He is also out of proportion- kinda short, stubby, and laughable. Didn't do the book much justice :/

I was just thinking about the lizards in Holes. I really never paid attention to the difference in the lizards. I just thought "Hey cool. I can identify those reptiles now". Remember, I've only had reptiles for just over a year.

It entertains me to no end how I can point out how Hollywood doesn't know what they're talking about. Of course, I wouldn't want the actors to have to work with hots just for a movie, but between all the "deadly" corns/kings/garters and other animals and the inconsistencies (like the corn roll scene in White Chicks where one second half of the girl's head is done and the next second it's all done. Come on Hollywood, this hair style takes hours, sometimes days!).

Appearance I have too much time on my hands. Lol. And for the record, I've only seen parts of White Chicks, but I paid enough attention to catch that major mess up.

Anaconda!! I let my daughter watch it, then we went to NERD's and she actually got to hold a green one. I thought she would be terrified, but :nope:

Hissing cockroaches are ALWAYS used in movies. Which is silly because they're native to Madagascar and nowhere else. XD

I wonder why they won't use Dubia. They're cute little buggers. I almost feel bad feeding them to my critters because they're cute.

I think in Gladiator, wasn't there a scene where a 'hot' is slipped into some politician's bed to kill them? I can see the scene in my head but I can't remember the setup now. I think it was meant to look like a coral snake, so it was probably a milk. I don't remember for sure though.

They also mentioned a sea snake, but didn't show it, that supposedly lies on the ocean floor and allows its prey to bite at it, and the snake just waits until the time is right to attack.

And just out of curiosity, I went onto wikipedia to look at coral snakes; I didn't realize that 'kill a fellow' rhyme was only accurate for new world coral snakes.

Oh, and I just remembered that in "Fools Rush In," Matthew Perry's character goes into the desert with his wife's brothers/cousins/something and ends up surrounded by rattlesnakes. I didn't know they hunted in packs. ;)

Of course rattlesnakes hunt in packs :D Don't you see all the news reports where they all attack at once? All those lone rattler attacks are myths.

Just kidding!

My hubby was watching a movie the other day, but can't remember what it was called. It had Arnold Swartznegger in it though. Some bad guy was shoving a snake down someone's throat. I wasn't really watching, so I don't know it if was supposed to be poisonous and that's how it killed him, but it was some sort of tri-colored milk, so I'm assuming it was supposed to be a coral. I'm thinking having any type of snake shoved down your throat would kill you by virtue of the fact you can't breath.

I also saw an episode of A Thousand Ways to Die where some woman died because a water moccasin crawled into her water chamber thingy that she floated in to relax, but the snake they used in the reenactment was a king (can't remember which one...maybe a Speckled?).

"The Golden Compass" (one of the guys in the meeting room had a corn snake as a Damon) and "Jurassic Park 2" (During the scene where they run to a waterfall to escape the T-Rex a "poisonous snake" slithered into his shirt, pretty sure it was just a milk or Scarlett king..)

Oh, I remember that scene in Jurassic Park. I think maybe it was the third movie, not the second, but I could be wrong. Been awhile since I watched those. I remember thinking that scene was funny though, just because I knew the snake was harmless, and the guy panicked over a little snake when a great big trex was just outside the waterfall.

I find it amusing that these scenes make me laugh, when I'm sure that wasn't the director's intention. :crazy02:

How about one of my favs, Raiders of the Lost Ark

"There's a big snake in the plane, Jock!" (Burmese Python)

"Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes?" (how many can you ID?)

So I'm not the only one (obviously) who ends up laughing at a "serious" scene when the evil deadly venomous snakes are all corns or milks. Spoils our enjoyment somewhat, no?

I saw that Arnie film, was it Collateral Damage? I fell asleep before the end! :)

Not a corn, but the only redeeming feature about the abomination that is Gone in 60 Seconds is that the car they called Tracy was the big black 4x4 with the massive snake in

Oh, and I just remembered that in "Fools Rush In," Matthew Perry's character goes into the desert with his wife's brothers/cousins/something and ends up surrounded by rattlesnakes. I didn't know they hunted in packs. ;)

Yeah, that was a silly scene... but it does lead to a hilarious scene, where he's licking tequila off the carpet (after falling into a cactus). "Lucy, you got some 'splainin to do!" :D

Here's that whole sequence from the movie - and hey, at least the rattlers actually look like rattlers! But are they, and did they really have to shoot them? :shrugs:
