My last minute snake birthday cake!

My 3rd child turned 7 last week, and she's snake crazy! I didn't have time to make an elaborate snake cake, but I bought a nice plastic coral snake and decorated the cake with crushed Oreos and dyed coconut ... and topped it with the snake! The bonus was getting the coral snake as a toy, too!

That's super cute!! I love to use actual little toys as cake decorations b/c cause they don't just get thrown away (or break) afterwards like the cheapy ones that come from bakeries.
 
Awww how cute! I used to get cakes with those little "tub-o-critters" toys as decorations, and then the rest would be used to decorate the table! :)
 
Oh, definitely do it! I used an organic cake mix with 2 round 8" cake pans. I made a similar cake for my son with a frog. I'll have to post that soon.
