My newly divided enclosure

So after buying two Corn Snakes and setting them up in the sane tank because that's what was recommended to me by the numerous pet stores I shopped at, I finally set up a divided enclosure.

I started with a 29 gallon tank and using some 3/16" PVC, I made a tight fitting divider that hooks onto the top rim. To ensure a controlled hot and cold side, 1/4" aluminum plate was used over the heat pad and 1/4" PVC was used to insulate the cold side from the heat. These plates also work to lock the divider in place.

The corns are now in their dedicated sides and should be happier. I just fed my normal type Sunday and noticed when I moved him, he has started his shedding cycle. So he seems to be lagging behind my amel by only a week.

Here is a close up of the plates

The two corns settled in quickly. The Amel went right for the hide and my normal explored for ten minutes before going into the hide. I'm using six clips and still worrying about the corners.

looks very nice,.and I'm sure that the two of them will be much happier with the new set up!

Congrats on finally getting everything in order. :)

Great job! Sorry you got the wrong info from pet stores, coming a guy who owns one. Your corns should be happy in that for some time. Maybe next year, you'll get the bug and grow two more out in it!

Thanks for all the positive comments. The snakes have been using the vines so I think they were a good additional. I'll wrap them with some fake greenery soon. I've also applied some brown paper to the back. My amel seems to like that as it has moved to that end of the hide since the backing went up. I've also added two more clips (8 total) seeing they are climbing now.

Not nearly big enough for two adults. I have two enclosures under construction for the future. I plan on taking my time and doing a couple of rock/vine backgrounds.

They are going to be stackable and measure 36"wide x 18"tall x 12"deep with sliding glass fronts.

I've completed the basics of one and have all the flats cut for the second but not sure I like the appearance of the melamine with screw holes. I've decided to focus on one with the possibility of scrapping it for different materials.

Oh wow you've got it all figured out! I was wondering if splitting a 55 gallon tank would be big enough for 2 adults

ShelbyScott I was wondering the same thing. I was also told that cohab is ok so I bought a 55 gal for two corns. I'm hoping I can divide it and that the two sides will be sufficient for both adult snakes.

And I just realized this is a an old thread, so I probably will not get an answer. :)

IMO a 55 divided isn't big enough for an adult corn on each side (24"x12"x21").
