My snake, (It was sold as Charcoal, I think Anery/ghost...)

I wanted to show you my corn snake, and ask your opinion of it's morph.

It was sold as charcoal, and looked it, But now that he is growing and shedding he is getting more yellow on the neck, And he is not getting as silver as A charcoal gets, AND, He doesn't look alot like any anery i have seen. His body is too light in color, and his saddles look lighter... Give me your opinion

The first pics are his head coloration that just came in the last shed or two.
Also, Some pictures of his side pattern, Dorsal pattern and Weird Breaking in his patterning. And his odd coloration kind of shows.

I agree with you, it doesn't look like a typical charcoal. I too, would also say anery A. That being said, it doesn't mean it isn't a charcoal. There is a very wide range of looks among one morph. Also, it is possible that the snake is BOTH charcoal and Anery A. Talk to the petstore or breeder you aquired the snake from if you can. Maybe you can get an answer nailed down. Good luck.

the pet store knew nothing about it, not even how to contact the breeder. i guess he just brings stuff in. I got this snake a year ago, as a yearling. I just got around to posing this, as the yellow is very new.

Some charcoals do develop yellow as they get older. My charcoal looks very similar to that (minus the yellow), and I bought him from a very reputable breeder.

The first pic in your photo bucket shows the head. The eye looks anery A. The give away is the light iris, dark pupil. Charcoals have dark iris.

Here is my anery A. Mine have (virtually) no yellow, a little tan but not much at all.

My aneryA/ghost/thingy male developed his first yellow at around 8 months of age. Thus, it varies a great deal.

Anery A seems to be the general consensus, I also think Anery A is what I have. Which changed my breeding plans abit. It was looking a great deal like a charcoal till the last couple sheds.

The breaking up of the patterning is called frosted. My miami phase is getting a more frosted look each times she sheds. I think it is beautiful!

The amount of yellow can not be used as an indicator of whether the snake is an anery A or a charcoal as both genotypes can have, or lack, yellow. The iris color, however, is a slightly more accurate method. Granted, there will always be some exceptions to the rule, but because of the very light iris coloration of your snake, I would say that you have an anery A instead of a charcoal. Here are links to my 2 charcoal females for comparison:

After looking at the eyes I have no doubt it is an anery a.
Is frosted something that can be transferred genetically?

Just curious also, should I breed it to A Lavender Het. Anery. and breed the Anery/Lavanders/Anery Het Lavenders and selectively breed for the best Anery/Lavs?
Does Anery Lav have a Common Name?

Or do you think I should breed for blue motleys/Ice/Granite? All of them can be used for other things also, But I want my Anery to be the core of my project. I also need a red morph, As that can make all sorts of things, like snows and opals and lava and such. I just need to know what red morphs mix with my black morphs..

Anyone know of something online for free that has like... A morph index, Morph names and their genetics listed?
