My two African House babies

I see there's a lot of love for house snakes on this forum :grin01: I actually have two, a juvie male named Koti and a hatchling female named Izla (she is the striped one pictured in the last 2 photos).

Mainly I wanted to share these photos because I never cease to be amazed by the variability in their coloration, particularly with Koti. One day he will appear jet black, but another day or even a few hours later, he will become a stunning shade of olive. Lit up by my flashlight, he makes his most dramatic transformation into a vivid grass green.

Anyway, he is so docile and inquisitive, happily willing to remain entwined around my fingers, within my hair, or just asleep in my hoodie for hours. Come dinner time, he feasts like the fiercest little snapper.

So lovely and adorable!! Do you have a breeder you can recommend?

Yes - Koti was purchased from a breeder named Jim Kuroski. You can find him easily on Facebook or Fauna Classifieds. I already recommended someone else to him, and she has been thrilled with her experience. The little hatchling was simply a spur-of-the-moment reptile expo acquisition though :)

Oh awesome! Thank you so much :D

Oh, they are beautiful. I see what you mean about the color. I love the iridescence. Which species or locality are they?

Not sure, I just know one is a fuliginosus and the hatchling is a lineatus. I think a lot of the US breeders who were big on their localities are out retired from their projects now, sadly.

That's the impression I have too-- the breeders are getting out of breeding them. Currently they are very under appreciated snakes. As it says in my sig, I have a capensis. Wouldn't trade my little Clyde for all the tea in Kenya. I just had him out for a while and the way he grips my fingers is amazing.

Thanks again for your beautiful pictures. Please add more when you feel like it and as they grow. You've got a couple of beauties there.
