New baby snakes hatched today!

Arpolis

Corn Snake Breeder
I have not been updating this clutch mutch since early November when laid but the day has come. Just in passing I peered into the incubator and I saw two noses looking up at me through the clear sterilite lid. I moved the paper towel I had in there and I have one more out of the egg and another just peeking out.

The parents were hypo lav het diffused X classic het hypo lav diffused. So far I have two classics, what looks like a hypo & a possible lavender that was half sunk into the egg.

The hypo was big and fierce! Snapping at me and determined to eat me. She even tried to escape so I picked her up and at a closer look i am pretty sure just a hypo. But cool enough only the top 1/3 of her belly has checkers. Looks like a she but I did not really try and pop her just yet. I'll wait a couple days before I start checking sexes.

By the time I got her back in the tub the shy snake was out and looks like a nice dark lavender but should be able to better tell when she dries up a bit and has first shed.

I have pics and will update later today.

Sorry but having issue with camera cable. Looks like it got damaged some how so still taking pics but will be a bit to upload them. Checked just now and there are two more noses peeking out. One I bet is another lavender but could not tell on the other. This clutch had 8 eggs that survived and look good so waiting for two more pips.

Two more out of the eggs. Both look to be lavenders. One was much lighter in color and had a bald head so I was hopefull for a plasma but after checking her out there is a full belly of checkers and no diffusion. Even though that one was lighter I still bet it is not a hypo lavender. The count looks to be 3 lavender, 1 hypo, 2 classics. One egg collapsed more than the normal dimpling and started turning really yellow. I have one egg left that is proabably the largest of all of them and is super plump and white still.

They're so cute and lovely! I want to hug them all while they're in one big colorful ball.

They're really quite beautiful. Like a lot of little presents opening up. May I ask, what's up with the glass stones? Good high contrast for taking pictures. Thanks for sharing-

Thank you all for the kind comments on the babies. I am very happy for healthy looking animals.

The glass stones are the hatching media. I boil them to disinfect. Cool them abd an inch of water go into the tub so the water level is well below the eggs. Then just cover the eggs with paper towel to hold in the humidity. Worked well for me this year and the last.

Thanks Arpolis. Any chance you could add this to the "Favorite Incubation Medium Poll"? A favorite of mine, and a thread worth resurrecting for the season to come.
