New Snake & New to the Group

A persons looks (how attractive, or unnatractive -as the case may be-, they are) change as I get to know them. One of my ex's... most of my friends (when introduced) asked me "WHY??"... then they got to know him. :) And yes, we're still close (as I am to most of my ex's).

For example: Someone I'm sort of seeing now didn't like snakes (AT ALL) but admitted that he knew nothing about them. I mean why would ANYONE want to keep a snake as a pet, right? So I introduced him to Max and it was one question after another (mostly about why I like them - he even thought they were ugly... until now. hehe). He loves them now, but that's against the point. The fact that he's open and willing (not just willing, but WANTS) to learn about snakes (and why people keep them), and of course open to changing his mind about how he feels for them now (which he has), made him more attractive to me. He even offered to build me a larger tank (he does contract work in construction)! We'll probably end up as just friends, but he's going to turn out to be one of the best friends I think I've ever had. Really great guy, and HELLA attractive in my eyes.

Oh, and he's forever kissing my forehead or cheek, which shows me he genuinely cares and maybe even respects me. He's a GREAT dad but I don't need to see him with his child to know, because it shows in the way he treats others (if that makes sense).

Ignorance, stubborness, closed minded, etc. = VERY VERY unnatractive.

lol @ presentations and seminars.

I know that you are German...so you should know what it is like. I have yet to meet a German, whether it be man or woman that isn't hardheaded as a rock. Yes, I have a wife, and she is German. But, like I said, I wouldn't trade her for the world.

I will tell her that you said hi. And, if you haven't already figured it out, we are expecting our first baby on the 30.
oh yea thats what i was gonna say: congrats, and hey, not tryin to tell u what to do, but u should really raise yer kid bi-lingual. i'm pretty sure she will.lol its good for them, all 3 of mine(10,6,2) are bi lingual. yea we are hard headed, but arent we as sweet as candy too though? :p....hmmm is pcar, the guy that looks like the guy on ER????

Michaela,
I'm so glad you took on that comment about Germans because I may not have been as candy sweet about it as you. I'm mostly German (maiden name is Probst), and hardheaded, but also have a bit of Irish (plus a little of a couple more things) and the red-head temper, so things may have gotten ugly. And I agree, we can be the sweetest things and would gladly give our right arms for those we love and care about. Just don't try to treat us badly...or else! Word of warning pcar...love that woman of yours with all your heart and you'll be the happiest person on Earth. And congrats on the expected little bundle! When I can find that T-shirt I like so much, I'll try to get one for you. You won't need it for several years yet, but you will eventually discover the truth about "having children is like being pecked to death by a duck". I love my 2 "ducks" anyway and wouldn't trade them for anything.

Yes, I agree with the fact that you can be as sweet as candy. I know Marlene sure is. We are planning on teaching them German while they are young, and I have even started to teach myself so that I can understand my father-in-law and other family-in-laws when they speak german.

I am not the guy that looks like ER guy. That is Quigs. I will get a picture up as soon as I can on my Profile.

I wasn't trying to treat you badly, and I am sorry to all those of German decent that I may have upset with my little comment. I already love my wife with all my heart. Thanks for the congrats. We have Ducks too, so I know what it is like to be pecked by one. If that is what raising kids is like, I think that can handle it. :crazy02:

Here are 2 pictures of me and my wife. One is on our wedding day...2 years and 4 months ago...and the other is about a year ago.

Sprechen ze deutsch in Texas?

In 1983, it seemed like a great idea for a future Army officer to learn German in HS. My dad tried for an entire summer to convince me that Spanish would be much more practical for a Texan. Of course being much smarter than my father back in those days, I proceeded to take 4 years of German. THAT was a brilliant idea! By the time I turned 24, the Cold War was over, the Army was pulling out of Germany, and I was sitting on the DMZ in Korea.

I can say that the language of the great Germanic kings finally paid off this past year. Whilst on Gov'mint business in the Czech Republic, I was finally able to order a pilsner from a lovely young barmaid that didn't speak a word of English but patiently listen while I slaughtered my pronunciations.

I then got into a political debate with a man from Bonn who claimed that Kerry was a moderate. :eek1:

We didn't have the option of German in my HS. So, I have 6 years of Spanish and can speak and understand enough to be in Mexico for about 3 weeks. I am learning German because all of Marlene's family is of German Decent, so the speak it a lot. So, if I want to understand conversations, then it would behove me to learn it.

lol good luck tryin to learn. only one out of my 24 (adult) family members speak english :p the german my husband speaks, is the "accent" that we speak where i'm from, if he would go to Berlin, no one would understand what the hell he is saying .and once again, good luck with the baby.

Congratulations Pcar! So nice to put a face with the name. You and your wife make a lovely couple. Yes kids can be trying at times. I do not have any of my own. But I do have two step kids, the girl is 17 and the boy is 11. Gotta love those teenagers. lol!

Gee there are a lot of Germans here! I have german on both sides of my family. Along with Dutch, irish and my Great, great Grandmom was an indian squaw. Of course I got the double german genes, blond hair, blue eyes. One thing I regret is not learning another Language. I took german in HS but I passed by the skin of my teeth. I wouldn't mind learning Spanish.

Thanks a bunch Jean. My wife read through this Thread tonight and really appreciated everyone's comments. I love kids, and I am so glad that I will finally have some of my own. I was a strange boy as I really enjoyed babysitting. I had my own baby sitting business, started at about age 7 and until around 15. Then I just got too busy with school, and at 16, I started working. I have taken care of kids as young as 6 weeks to 12 years old. I am looking forward to raising my own kids.

I am French on my dad's side and Native American (Black Foot) on my mom's side. Marlene is German on both sides of her family. I took Spanish in High School, but I didn't know a word in German. Even when I first married Marlene. I went out and spent a little bit of money and got a Computer language Tutor and now I can understand German a whole lot better. I can't speak it very well, but I am sure that will come.
