Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

new to corn snake's a few qustions

I don't see how the owner is "demanding" anyone to contribute. There's a spell-check and preview button if you are very concerned about errors. When I consider contributing, it certainly has nothing to do with the edit button - it's due to the great community, endless support, and great wealth of information this site offers.

Sorry to OP for posting off topic. :( I love this site too much not to say something!

Yeah I know. I have contributed for years now, and this is the ONLY site I contribute to. And the edit button has nothing to do with it either.
No one has demanded ANYTHING of me, and many other sites have contrubuters that don't have perks or an edit button. I am far from rich, but this site is worth MUCH more to me than a paltry $25 a year.

Put your hand in the tank, directly over the UTH, where your corn would be laying on it. If it feels HOT, then put something between the UTH and the bottom of the tank (a towel, etc.).
85 degrees should feel slightly warm, but never hot. You don't want your corn to get a belly burn.
Get a digital thermometer as soon as you can. Walmart has one for about $10.
In the meantime, check the temp every day to make sure it isn't hot.

Once you get the thermostat, you can adjust the heating pad down enough that you won't need a towel between the UTH and the tank.

Keep in mind, your snake can survive cold temperatures MUCH better than too hot temperatures. Your snake being too cold until you get a thermometer won't hurt it. Don't burn your snake, though.
