And he was a troll whether he meant to be or not. He started with calling people idiots straight away. Trolling is more than simply looking for a reaction from people. It's also about causing a disturbance any way necessary.

IMO, this kid tried the first route, by stating that he was getting a 'conda after 2 years with cornsnakes. That didn't get people riled, it only got him information, so he started calling people names. He got away with that 3 or 4 times and STILL didn't get the reaction he wanted...so he started outright cursing. It was definitely a troll-progression thread...;)

That was caused by people who don't keep condas telling him he was wrong about things he knew he was right about....
I agree that he went about things badly, but was there any need to disagree with him when he was basically right....
So what if he wants a conda at 17... They grow slow and he'll be 20 by the time it's getting to a decent size......
I think he was out to impress you cornsnake keepers with his Anaconda, but I don't believe he was trying to get a rise out of you, just a pat on the back...
Kathy said she had a conda at 17 and so did I after only a couple of months keeping a corn snake, and we are both still here to tell about it.....
I think we should be more tolerant and stop calling people out about things we know nothing about.....

I agree that people jumped on him for little reason at first. His information was basically right, and people gave him crap for it. You must admit that he was bragging about the lowest end of the spectrum regarding size, and yea...a male might stay 10'...but it will still weigh near 200lbs.

Even still...his second or third post in the topic called a member here, in direct response, an "idiot". That's enough, for me, whether you're information is basically right or not.

Attitude goes a long way, Mike. You know that. This kid had the worst one possible. THAT is why he got called out, in my opinion. At least...that's why I called him out...

I still wanna see the other thread...

hey hey I think my post was reasonable enough, I quoted some text to show him he is too busy trying to show everyone how right he supposedly is... so much so that he misses all the facts staring him in the face.

I don't know if he was a troll... just a young kid who thinks he knows everything there is to know.
 
when you start using the C word in forums....I think it's time you bid yourself farewell. JMO I could care a less if he was or wasn't a troll....just glad he's gone:blowup:

I think your post(s) were very reasonable. I really don't think anyone, but the OP, crossed the line. :shrugs: I was just, nicely I might add, trying to help him understand that he was mistaken. I even tried to cite credible sources. :shrugs:

I didn't see any of the swearing, it got cleaned up before it got to me....
And that is intolerable.
When he gets back in three days it may be worth listening to him and not calling him out over his conda. Then he may not take offence and start calling people idiots, and you may all learn something about keeping Anacondas in captivity......
Unless one of you has one and we can all share it with you....
 
Well, I warned him as early as post 10, in a polite manner, about swearing. Then he went on to bust out the C-word. That's very extreme. I would reserve that for...my truck won't start, it's 30 below, I have to be at the airport in 60 minutes to fly to somewhere warm for vacation- Austrailia for a trip to the barrier reef that I spent my life savings on and is non-refundable, I can't call a cab because I live too far out in the country and all my friends got hit by an asteroid so they are dead. Then I might call my truck that.
